The Project

Thanks to the generous support of Omidyar Network and Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, High Resolves is exploring the development of an approach to measuring citizenship competencies which we call the Citizenship Quotient (CQ). Similar to the original IQ for intelligence and EQ for emotional intelligence, CQ is a way of comprehensively and reliably measuring the set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and behaviors that enable people to work towards the long-term collective interest.

The fast-paced project will run for two months, from August 6, 2018 to October 5, 2018 and be focused on developing a detailed project plan and full proposal for CQ. It is comprised of four work streams: stream 1 - conceptualizing the measure and approach; stream 2 - understanding the market; stream 3 - developing the user experience and journey; and stream 4 - determining the revenue model, path to profitability, and initiative structuring.

The Role

As a Strategy Analyst/Project Coordinator, you will be involved in all streams of the project but will primarily focus on streams 1 and 2.

The role involves market research and data collection, managing information, conducting analysis, identifying issues and developing solutions, and presenting findings. The role also involves providing support as needed to ensure the successful completion of the project, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, capturing key takeaways from meetings, sharing relevant information in a timely way across the team and with stakeholders, and managing shared knowledge (centrally stored files) to ensure that it is accessible and up to date for all team members.

This is an exploratory project, so the team will be adjusting quickly as we learn. The ideal person will be highly analytical but also nimble, with a blend of experience across K-12 education, social impact and management consulting.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Gather global K-12 and nonprofit civic education market and customer information via desktop research and interviews.
  • Summarize, synthesize, organize and manage the information in actionable formats (spreadsheets/databases/documents) that are well structured, clean, clear, and succinct.
  • Support learning through qualitative interviews - including preparing questions, capturing and synthesizing interview notes, highlighting findings, scheduling calls, and conducting interviews.
  • Assist with strategy development, and planning and proposal development for Phase 1.
  • Contribute to conceptualization, design, writing, editing and proofing of materials in development for sharing within and outside the team, as well as the production of final proposals and deliverables to funders.
  • Provide other organizational and communications support as needed to ensure the successful, on-time completion of the project, including planning and preparing for meetings, managing communications, and coordinating project elements as needed.

You will be working alongside a team of highly experienced experts in the fields of education and measurement.

The role includes a free trip to Sydney, Australia for a week, where we will kick othe project. Applicants to this position must be available the week of August 6, 2018.
