Strategist (Project-Based, Temporary)

LaPlaca Cohen - Remote - Full time

We are seeking a Strategist to support an innovative new research and development (R&D) project within LaPlaca Cohen’s Strategy division. The project is aimed at developing a first-of-its-kind digital platform that will democratize access to arts education.

This is a full-time, temporary (approximately six month-long) position. This position will largely be conducted remotely, with expectations for occasional in-person team collaboration and potential client travel (domestic, Mid-Atlantic United States).

The Strategist is an integral part of the project team—a creative, rigorous, nimble team committed to bringing transformative, innovative, and actionable strategies to a project focused on digital arts education. The Strategist will co-lead research (market research, user experience research, qualitative interviews) and strategy development (related to product business model and product experience) in partnership with a group of passionate team contributors.

This position reports to the Senior Strategist.

A typical day in this role looks like:

  • Researching best practices and trends at the intersection of education, technology, arts, community impact, and digital learning.
  • Conducting interviews with leading experts in education, technology, product design, and business.
  • Facilitating focus groups with prospective users of the digital arts education platform.
  • Brainstorming new approaches to online community building, digital learning, and product features.
  • Leading strategy development for a high impact digital arts education platform, ensuring that recommendations help the client achieve key project goals.
  • Developing compelling and persuasive materials, including work session decks and strategy deliverables.
  • Serving as an active contributor in meetings with the client, leading conversations for strategic alignment.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional editing, writing, and presenting, research, and communications skills.
  • 5+ years professional experience, preferably in a strategy, consulting, or research function.
  • Prior professional experience in education, digital learning, user experience, arts and culture, and/or nonprofits is a plus.
  • Excellence in deliverable development, creating visually and narratively compelling strategy documents that are logically and persuasively structured.
  • Experience working on a team to deliver high quality projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Passion for tapping into the power of education, technology, and the arts to further the impact of a nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to inspire new ways of thinking and enthusiasm for defining pioneering new models that disrupt the status quo.
  • Cultural curiosity, looking to interesting and unexpected places for inspiration and ideation.
  • Experience using online communication tools, including but not limited to: Zoom, Google and Microsoft suites of cloud applications, Google Meets, etc..
  • Knowledge of Keynote and other presentation development tools is a plus.

Salary Range

  • $30-45/hour equivalent; 40 hours per week, for approximately 6 months
