Strategic Marketing Manager (Raleigh, NC)

IXL Learning, a leading edtech company with products used by 12 million students worldwide, is seeking a Strategic Marketing Manager to lead a team of Regional Marketing Managers that creates effective marketing tools and initiatives to support our K-12 sales team in the field.

As a Strategic Marketing Manager, you will lead the field marketing team in developing and executing compelling programs that support lead generation, brand awareness, customer advocacy, and more. You will be a key partner for our sales teams and provide strategic support to help them meet their goals. The ideal candidate is creative, proactive, organized, and passionate about education.


  • Own IXL’s field marketing strategy, from defining goals and priorities to driving execution of tactics
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to understand educator needs and key sales objectives (nationally and by territory)
  • Lead the creation of creative national and regional field marketing programs that are proactive, timely, targeted, and aligned to sales goals and revenue targets
  • Edit and write marketing programs content (including collateral, landing pages, email campaigns, etc.) and work cross-functionally on design and execution
  • Work with marketing leadership to create sales enablement programs that align with product and messaging goals
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the needs of each sales territory, including trends, target customers, decision-making processes, product positioning and messaging, etc.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Regional Marketing Managers


  • BA/BS degree
  • 8+ years experience in a strategic field marketing / regional marketing leadership role
  • 2+ years experience in a people management role
  • Strategic thinking: You are able to consider an idea from all angles, ask smart questions, and make thoughtful decisions that align with company needs and values
  • Written communication: You are an exceptional writer and editor with the ability to articulate the value propositions of IXL to different audiences
  • Interpersonal skills: You can effectively work cross-functionally, building collaboration and communication between Marketing, Sales and Product Management
  • Leadership: You have a proven track record of leading and coaching successful marketing teams
  • Organization skills: You are a self-starter, detail- and deadline-oriented, organized, and have the ability to prioritize and use resources wisely
