Strategic Data Initiatives and Analytics Manager

Position Overview: 

 The Strategic Data Initiatives and Analytics Manager leads data initiatives across the SEED network. They manage the implementation of network-wide assessments, implement performance management & evaluation systems across the SEED network, and manage data processes related to network initiatives—including but not limited to Network Success Measures and Annual School Report Cards. The Strategic Data Initiatives & Analytics Manager will also drive data strategy across the network and continuously improve network data systems. This position is an integral part of the School Support Team and reports to the Director of School Performance and Accountability. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 • Lead implementation of data initiatives across the SEED network. 

• Manage network-wide academic and social-emotional assessments. 

 • Establish, maintain, and enhance the network’s assessment policies and practices. 

 • Support schools with assessment administration and analysis. • Analyze organizational data points and metrics. 

• Promote data-driven decision-making and train school leaders in strategic data use. 

• Evaluate the effectiveness of SEED programs, policies, and/or initiatives. 

 • Manage and improve data tools for capturing school and network performance. 

• Manage and coordinate data calendars for the network. • Support data components of school improvement plans and network board reports. 

 • Provide data-related professional development to staff across the network. 

• Proactively seek to create systems that foster data culture across the SEED network, including facilitating professional learning communities.

Education, Experience, & Certifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in data, statistics, mathematics, education, or social science field required. Master’s degree in education or a data-related field strongly preferred. 

 • Minimum of 2-5 years of full-time experience in an education, research, or non-profit setting. This is not an entry-level position. 

• Work, intern or volunteer experience in a school, school district, or school oversight organization is a must. Experience in charter and district settings is equally welcome. 

• Must have experience analyzing data and creating data visualizations in Excel. Experience with other data analytics software (R, PowerBI, Tableau, SQL, and Python) is a plus. 

• Advanced understanding of the national K-12 and post-secondary policy and best-practices landscape is a plus. 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

• Intermediate to advanced Excel experience required. 

• Strong analytical writing skills required. 

• Strong relationship management skills required. Must be able to work independently, in a dynamic, fast-paced setting under tight deadlines. 

• Must be a critical thinker who takes ownership and initiative to independently problem solve. 

• Must be proactive, reflective, and engage in backwards-planning to manage own workload and that of a data intern. 

• Ability to identify strategic priorities and focus energy and resources on those priorities. 

• Must be willing to ask questions, adept in engaging in difficult conversations, and comfortable engaging with senior organizational leaders. 

• Must be a self-directed and comfortable with both macro and micro thinking. 

• Must be flexible and comfortable with change, both in individual and network projects. 

• Must be comfortable with learning how to use additional educational technology platforms. 

• Comfort working with people of diverse backgrounds is a must. 

 • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse audiences and influence cross-functionally with a wide range of stakeholders. 

• Ability to multi-task as well as be strategic, creative, and innovative in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment. 

• Proven ability to complete goals/projects on time delivering high quality results. 

• Excellent computer skills with common office applications. 

• Willing to travel to SEED Schools and external meetings.
