We’re looking for someone who has been shocked at least once in their lifetime. Literally, shocked. Because we need someone who loves to understand how things work and how to make them work in new ways.The STEM Curriculum Writer will assist a creative team responsible for developing content for elementary and middle school students that engages and excites children in creativity, invention, and STEM. The program features fun, hands-on challenges aligned with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards, and incorporates an inquiry based approach through best practices. The ideal STEM Curriculum Writer candidate should have a spirit for innovation, experimentation, and problem solving, and possesses the ability to write those experiments out in clear, step-by-step instructions. This individual should posses experience in developing national curriculum. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops original age-appropriate content, research, product development/writing, and testing and breakthrough creative programming and products
  • Work within a professional team to create reliable, high quality programming
  • Stays current on educational market and trends
  • Brainstorms and pitches ideas for content development with the creative team
  • Research scientific content and background information for curriculum
  • Maintains project schedules, budgets and timelines
  • Observe activities in the classroom as they are tested and identify strengths and weaknesses, practicing educational evaluation methods

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong writing skills
  • Creativity and a true passion for creating high-quality, innovative content that engages and entertains children
  • Experience creating successful, age-appropriate children’s content and/or products
  • Fantastic ability to relate and connect student’s mindset
  • Excellent research, and organizational skills
  • Experience with formal or informal educational settings
  • Ability to receive creative direction and feedback
  • Excellent team and collaborative skills
  • Availability to travel up to 25% of the time

Credentials and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a writer/producer of children’s content, developed for national programming
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
