About Algebra Nation

Algebra Nation is a University of Florida project created in partnership with innovative ed-tech company, Study Edge. Created in June 2012 in response to dismal Algebra End-of-Course testing results (52% of 9th graders failed the required state test), Algebra Nation has now become a ubiquitous resource for students and teachers across Florida. We are now integrated with every district in Florida, reaching over 98% of algebra students. Based on our impact on students and teachers, we are expanding and growing to other states, including Mississippi, Michigan, and beyond!

We are looking for energetic and passionate educators who want to be part of this exciting growth and are currently hiring for the role of STATE LEAD.

Candidate Qualifications

Self-starter with strong organizational skills; proven ability to work both independently and cooperatively; willingness to speak up and lead change!

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to thrive in a faced-paced, entrepreneurial environment

Comfort with ambiguity

Ability to think strategically and analytically with excellent follow through

Sense of humor and fun – we work hard, but we play hard too!

Teaching experience preferred, math teaching experience highly preferred

Willing to work remotely and occasionally work non-standard hours

Open to travel

Position Description

A key function of this position will be to contribute to development of strategy for outreach and onboarding of new districts and to serve as on-the-ground lead for implementing that strategy. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Managing outreach to new districts, including identifying and organizing new contacts, making cold calls to districts, organizing mass mailings (email and snail mail) and other large-scale outreach
  • Identifying and leading outreach to key partners within a state or region, including not-for-profits, community organizations, associations, etc.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts in state or region, including at the school and district level. This may include holding in-person meetings, conference or phone calls, or attending key meetings (e.g. school board meetings, conferences).

Coordinating, scheduling, and delivering professional training to onboard new districts and eventually taking on responsibility for more intensive professional training as districts become more mature users.

Coordinating the distribution of workbooks to schools and districts and managing follow up with districts.

Collaborating with home-office team to initiate the technology integration process for new districts. Ensuring integration goes smoothly and districts receive appropriate follow up once tech piece is in place.

Serving as point of contact for districts following integration and onboarding (following up with districts, answering questions after integration)

Contributing to communications strategy for new state, including social media, bi-monthly newsletters, and other outreach to new users

Reporting to home-office team issues and observations on the state’s needs to further resource and feature development

  • Other special duties as assigned
