Sr. Sampling Coordinator

Description

The Senior Sampling Coordinator will assist in acquiring and monitoring research samples related to the development of new educational products and support of current products. The Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting participants for research studies and field-tests by either working with a contracted vendor or by contacting schools and district administrative personnel by mail, email, and phone to solicit their cooperation in the research studies. Once the studies are underway, the Senior Sampling Coordinator will monitor and evaluate progress and completion, using sample disposition reports and response rate calculations. This individual will assist in development of informational materials for study participants and databases to be used during the research process, oversee shipping and delivery of any research materials, as well as distribute incentives. Upon completion of the study, the Coordinator will create a technical report documenting the process and materials used in support of the study.

Accountabilities

Senior Sampling Coordinator must complete in a timely and accurate fashion assigned recruitment activities required for research related to various educational products. All assignments are carried out under the supervision of the Director, Learning Sciences and typically in coordination with Research/Learning Scientists.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Coordinates and conducts the recruitment and registration of research sites and participants. Identifies potential sites bases on established criteria. Prepares letters of invitation to participate in research.
  • Create informational materials for research participants.
  • Coordinates and conducts the follow up and follow through with research sites. Utilizes written and phone contacts. Keeps a record of all contacts. Coordinates and conducts preparation, shipment and delivery of research material to study participants. Monitors progress. Identifies problems in completing research. Coordinates tracking of all research-related materials.
  • Prepare, manipulate, and manage research study databases. Maintains files of active and prospective field-test sites. Maintains records of research participants.
  • Coordinates the processing of compensation checks and credit certificates. Monitors fulfillment of compensation to study participants and makes periodic status reports on compensation.
  • Coordinates the quality assurance procedures for entry, scoring, and checking designed by the Research/Learning Scientists to ensure that research data meets established standards. Supervises temporary employees employed to carry out these procedures.
  • Submits periodic progress reports. Formats data for graphic presentation in reports and presentations.
  • Communicates effectively with those involved in currently assigned projects. Keeps the Research/Learning Scientists informed of all aspects of currently assigned projects. Communicates with the Director, Learning Sciences and other HMH personnel involved in these projects.
  • Collaborate with staff in Learning Sciences, Measurement & Analytics and other departments in the completion of activities associated with assigned research projects.
  • Accountable for serving on project teams, committees, or other ad hoc groups as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree background in education, psychology, or a related field preferred (or relevant work experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of Research/Learning Science relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must have a professional phone manner and be comfortable making phone contacts.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of standard computer software (Excel, Access, Word).
  • Experience with database management is strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience in sampling/assessment recruiting preferred
  • Other Requirements: Ideal candidate must be a self starter with excellent problem solving skills and flexibility. Must be detail-oriented, have good organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple projects concurrently. Some occasional travel required.
