We’re looking for a project manager who will work directly with schools and districts to optimize Newsela’s role in the their ecosystem of products, and optimize their use of Single Sign-On (SSO) and Rostering tools. With your leadership, Newsela will stand out as a product that plays exceptionally well with others and saves teachers time in getting them and their students straight to the reading experience that they’re depending on to drive learning outcomes.

Your success will be measured on your ability to simplify the journey from the moment schools and districts decide to use Newsela, and particularly, Newsela PRO. You will leverage your first-hand knowledge of classrooms, schools and Ed Tech tools and supplement that knowledge with ongoing time in classrooms; you will speak with teachers, school leaders, and technical leadership as well as internal product and engineering teams to design and implement integrations that create a frictionless experience for schools and districts. You will be Newsela’s primary expert on implementing Newsela’s technology in any classroom, any school, any district, and on customizing Newsela’s integration capabilities to fit their unique needs.

  • Lead a project team to define and execute Newsela’s interoperability/integrations roadmap. Work closely with Product teams to incorporate this roadmap into that of the overall Newsela service.
  • Assist in building and communicating Newsela’s interoperability vision, including but not limited to defining its role in school and district infrastructures, in conforming to industry standards and APIs and developing our own, and working cooperatively with internal partners, customers and vendors.
  • Work closely with specific schools and districts to optimize their use of rostering and SSO integrations to create a frictionless Newsela experience aligned to district needs.
  • Optimize current and build new interoperability mechanisms to maximize ease of use and connect teachers and students with the Newsela experience as seamlessly as possible.
  • Stay abreast of trends in a fast-moving market environment with continuously-shifting customer expectations and new opportunities and threats.
  • Translate ambiguous problems into structured, well-informed points of view and recommendations through strategic thinking, data analysis, and an insightful understanding of our schools, teachers, and students.
  • Partner closely with our Data team to gather and analyze data and report on various metrics.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3+ years professional experience.
  • 1+ years working in a project management role, preferably in management consulting firm or internal consulting capacity.
  • K-12 education experience, preferably in a position with interoperablility responsibility.
  • Demonstrated record of success in leading client-facing implementation teams, resulting in measurable real world impact.

A Few Plusses

  • Strong quantitative analytical ability and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment.
  • Direct experience with Clever, Canvas, Microsoft 365 for Education, Google Classroom, Schoology, other LMS and/or SSO and Rostering technologies
