In this role, you will have a chance to build and lead an innovative and collaborative effort to solve a major challenge in Connecticut: ensuring that all children have access to a talented teacher.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be the primary driver of the TEACH Connecticut, a soon-to-launch initiative with a broad coalition of partners including, the Connecticut State Department of Education (SDE), Ad Council, as well as school districts, educator preparation programs (EPPs), and other education organizations in Connecticut. In any given week, you will wear many hats: you might create and manage project plans, build and maintain relationships with Connecticut stakeholders, collaborate with the web development and content teams, hire and manage contractors to provide specialized support, create and refine tools and resources to better identify and support prospective teachers, and anything else required to keep the initiative on track and successful. This role is perfect for someone who is an extremely organized people-person with a “find a way to get it done” orientation. No challenge is too daunting and no task too ordinary, if it matters for the success of the initiative.

You’ll report directly to’s Chief Program Officer, and join a nimble, close-knit team to launch, manage, and continually evolve the TEACH Connecticut initiative to achieve successful outcomes. Since this is’s first statewide initiative, your effort will also have broader impact: the systems, resources, and best practices you develop will serve as a model to scale to other states in the future. Additionally, given the expertise of all team members in their specialty areas, and your broad scope of work, this role will give you opportunities to learn and grow in all facets of building a world-class digitally-enabled product that attracts, engages, and cultivates millions of users to consider and pursue the teaching profession.

To harness the impact of its ad campaign and online platform, executes state- or metro area recruitment initiatives, in partnership with local partners and stakeholders. Our first campaigns have been in Dallas-Fort Worth and Kansas City metro areas. We are now excited to expand to statewide initiatives. As the Senior Manager for the TEACH Connecticut Initiative, you will ensure the success of the Connecticut initiative and play a leading role in building a model that can be replicated across the country.

About the TEACH Connecticut Partnership

The purpose of TEACH Connecticut is to raise the profile of teaching in Connecticut and attract more talent into the profession. This will be accomplished through a statewide ad campaign, a direct outreach campaign on college and high school campuses, digital media, online experiences, a Talk-to-a-Teacher program, and events and programming that expose prospects to teaching. These resources will inspire prospective teachers to join the profession, dispel misperceptions, and support the steps they need to take to enter the profession (i.e., get training, finance the training program, earn a professional credential, find a job).

TEACH Connecticut is expected to launch to the public in August 2018, with the State Department of Education (SDE) as the lead partner and public owner. will oversee the PSA campaign and digital recruiting platform, while SDE will be the primary convener of the stakeholder group, meaning the school districts, teacher preparation programs, and education associations in the state.

The SDE has designated a point person, who will lead the initiative with you, providing valuable insights and connections into the SDE and stakeholder group. You will work closely with this person and maintain her buy-in and gain approval on key decisions. Her time will be limited to four to six hours per week on the initiative.

The team will execute the PSA ad campaign and design, development, and maintenance of the digital recruitment platform (DRP). This team is a “shared services” team that serves all of our regional partners. You will work with this team and ensure that they are delivering effectively on the goals and strategy for TEACH Connecticut. This team works together virtually from around the country, with hubs in SF, Seattle, and New York.

Responsibilities & Requirements


Provide Initiative Leadership and Management

  • Serve as primary project manager for all components of the TEACH Connecticut initiative, from aligning on goals, developing project plans, and keeping everyone on task and on time
  • Engage with the point person at the SDE and the team to make key decisions for launch and ongoing success of the initiative
  • Work with point person at the SDE to plan and facilitate up to five in-person stakeholder meetings each year
  • Manage overall communications with all stakeholder groups
  • Assess TEACH Connecticut results in terms of recruiting new pre-service teachers, gathering data from educator preparation programs (EPPs) and district partners
  • Continuously analyze the initiative’s goals, results, activities, and strategies to maximize results; adapt and innovate as required

Oversee TEACH Connecticut Digital Recruiting Platform

  • Coordinate the Shared Services team and SDE team to create and continuously improve
  • Source information from partner school districts and EPPs to create and maintain their profiles on the site
  • Project manage all content creation – website content, email, social media – and occasionally draft content directly
  • Utilize the DRP to promote high quality events by managing the event submission process from partners with existing events, as well as identifying and sharing event best practices and how-to/implementation guides to inspire and support partners in launching new events
  • Collaborate with EPP partners to get more TEACH Connecticut prospects to apply to their programs, such as developing guides for their application process (e.g., user-friendly online “checklists”) and coordinating with EPP recruitment staff to conduct outreach and provide support to applicants

Identify and attract prospective teachers to TEACH Connecticut

  • Successfully manage the partner districts and EPPs to distribute outreach materials provided by to reach as many high school and college students as possible and subscribe them to TEACH Connecticut email and social media channels
  • Secure and follow-up on TEACH Connecticut partners’ commitment to promote the website, and get them to provide local endorsements for the PSA campaign by guiding them on when and how to reach out to their contacts to voice support



  • 3+ years as a project or program manager of a complex, multi-stakeholder, effort resulting in strong measurable outcomes
  • Successful track record in managing a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ideal candidates will also possess experience in early-stage organizations, teaching, the K-12 education system, digital marketing, talent recruitment, sales/account management, public-private partnerships, and/or online products and services
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred

  • Outstanding meeting planning and facilitation skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills with strong orientation toward giving and receiving feedback

Work & Travel Orientation

  • Able to work independently in a remote capacity, while remaining looped in with the team
  • Able and willing to travel throughout Connecticut 2-4 times per month for meeting with external stakeholders, be in Hartford 2-4 times per month for meetings with SDE, and also travel to other parts of country to meet with team 2-4 times per year
