Overview: The Speech and Language Pathologist serves as a resource for the implementation of the Special Education program for Caliber Schools. The SLP provides support for elementary teachers across Richmond and Vallejo sites. S/he will uphold the mission and values established by Caliber Schools. This position is a full-time position, but part-time status will be considered if necessary.


  1. Provide direct, individual or small group instruction to identified students on a regularly scheduled basis as required in the IEP.
  2. Collaborate with other personnel working with Special Education students.
  3. Participate in developing and implementing Individual Educational Plans for students who qualify for Designated Instructional Services (DIS).
  4. Implement and monitor IEP of students who qualify for Speech and Language services, and case-manage students whose only services in IEP are Speech and Language related.
  5. Screen, assess, and provide specialized speech and language services to students who qualify for services as established by State standards.
  6. Consult with school and home office staff.
  7. Develop instructional materials and strategies for Special Education students in the mainstream classroom, including, when appropriate, social-skills instruction.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Caliber Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  9. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.


1) Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Strong communication and community-building skills
  • Bilingual/Bi-literate—English/Spanish (preferred)
  • Outstanding training and presentation abilities
  • Experience in performance assessment
  • Strong problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google work platforms

2) Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree; Masters preferred
  • Valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential

3) Experience required:

  • 3+ years as a Speech and Language Therapist (interns considered for the right candidate)
