Special Education Resource Specialist Teacher

Method Schools - Murrieta, California or Remote - Full time

The Special Education Teacher serves as a key role in monitoring and supporting special education students. This role oversees a caseload of Special Education students, provides Specialized Academic Instruction in accordance with individualized education plans, and utilizes a variety of student performance data to align to individualized education plans to ensure academic growth and overall success.

The Special Education Teacher works in close communication with instructional staff and the Special Education department to ensure the progress and overall success of the student. The Special Education teacher reports to Special Education Director and Head of Schools.

Ongoing duties of the Special Education Teacher

  • 1.Provide specialized academic instruction to special education students
  • Instruct and support students in accordance with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives
  • Design activities and lessons to engage students in appropriately challenging work aligned to grade level standards
  • Assist with student assessment, drafting individualized plans for instruction and monitoring and reporting progress of the student
  • Communicates with families and instructional staff to create a partnership around student learning by providing information about the instructional program and the progress of students
  • Monitor progress of special education students in general education courses
  • 2.Use data tools to provide effective student support
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions, refine interventions and accommodations to effectively support special education students
  • Implement IEP goals and continue to monitor progress making refinements and adjustments in response to student’s needs and informed by performance data
  • Uses performance data and assessments to determine individual students’ academic strengths and needs in planning
  • 3.Maintenance of Special Education records
  • Generates and maintains accurate IEP records in compliance with state law and special education timelines
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities, student progress and behavior
  • Performs non-instructional duties according to Method policies and procedures
  • 4.Align with Method Schools Vision
  • Communicate across all departments to ensure coordination of support for all students
  • Commit to ongoing growth and development
  • Continuously develop new solutions to existing problems within the educational program
