SIS Implementation Specialist

Who we’re looking for:

We’re searching for someone who will play a key role in the initial onboarding process of new clients into ParentSquare. You’ll play an active role in helping facilitate the import process of data from the schools School Information System (SIS) into our platform. You’re someone who will make our newest customers feel well taken care of and who will ensure that this first step of the onboarding process is a seamless one. You’ll focus on both the data import as well as taking proactive steps to troubleshoot for any potential problems. Working closely with both our internal team and the district or school’s data administrators, you’re able to build a solid understanding and needs analysis for each client. You’ll have the unique opportunity to join our rapidly growing company in a role where you will have a direct impact on our users.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Set up and monitor nightly data syncs with various school systems
  • Set up Single Sign-on (SSO) with a wide variety of systems
  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in SISes that the team commonly works with, and write and maintain internal and customer-facing documentation for integrating with these SISes
  • Set up new accounts, connect customer data sources, and troubleshoot interoperability problems
  • Monitor, track and audit data for inconsistencies and errors and develop processes to identify and remedy data inaccuracies and/or missing data
  • Develop an understanding of a wide range of integration use-cases, summarize key learnings, and generate best practices.
  • Work with the engineering team to develop tools to automate the data import and data validation process for increased reliability and efficiency

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Proficient with SQL, with an understanding of database design
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal)
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Hands-on experience with a programming language like Ruby, Javascript, Python required. Ruby and Ruby-on-Rails are highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university desired
  • Proficiency with commonly used AWS services is a big plus
  • Experience with version control using Git
  • Experience with SFTP is a plus
  • Experience with working in the K12 Education environment and hands-on experience with Student Information systems is highly desired.
