A leading publisher of children’s materials for library, classroom, and trade seeks a Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing to join our Senior Leadership team.

The Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing provides effective leadership and strategic direction to all sales and marketing activities to drive profitable business growth. As a member of the Senior Leadership team of Capstone, this position plays a crucial role in defining and executing company strategy. The Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing acts as a role model, motivator, team leader, and culture builder and fosters adherence to Capstone’s core values. This position will lead a team of professionals to develop and achieve short- and long-term marketing and sales plans in support of the company’s growth strategy.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hires, develops, coaches, and retains a high performance Sales and Marketing team.
  • Effectively partners with the Senior Leadership Team to develop, align, and execute the overall company strategic business plan cross functionally.
  • Leads the development of the overall Company’s growth plan and supporting marketing and sales strategy including growth strategies across all aspects of the business.
  • Works closely with the Content and Digital product development teams to ensure effective integration and execution of the product plans.
  • Owns the development and execution of integrated sales and marketing plans.
  • Defines, monitors, and achieves key success metrics across marketing and sales.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of different sales methods and manages multiple channel selling strategies: direct and indirect as well as through distribution and channel partners.
  • Strengthens Key Account Management and Opportunity management capabilities, leverages CRM systems (Salesforce) and drives best practices.
  • Strengthens the marketing function including portfolio management, product marketing, and marketing communications.
  • Develops insightful value propositions, compelling products, and impactful marketing communication.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, MBA preferred. Ten or more years of sales and marketing leadership experience required. Educational publishing experience is preferred.
