Senior Test Automation Engineer

Location: Flexible (Boston, MA or East Coast preferred)

As the Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design and develop automated tests and be responsible for ensuring we deliver a defect-free product to our partners. You will work closely with the Engineering and Product Management teams to develop and execute automated test plans and scripts against all of ANet's technical products.

The Senior Automation Test Engineer will have a development mindset and understanding of automation best practices. They will collaborate with the Engineering team to design, develop and expand automation test frameworks, automated tests, integration tests, build smoke tests, test tools, performance testing, unit testing and ensure full end-to-end automation from product initiation to production release.

The Senior Test Automation Engineer will report to the Vice President, Technology.


  • Take ownership of automated testing efforts for our internal and partner-facing web applications and supporting technology
  • In close coordination with Engineering and other stakeholders, facilitate the research, selection and implementation of software testing tools and technologies, and testing techniques and procedures
  • In collaboration with Engineers and Product Managers, create and maintain documented processes that ensure a cohesive testing strategy
  • Develop and execute test scenarios and automated functional tests
  • Review results for conformance to requirements
  • Optimize test coverage and evaluate test results. Document test scenarios as executed
  • Diagnose automation and manual issues, report bugs and take ownership of issue resolution
  • Reproduce and document defects, assesses impact to customer
  • Assist in the confirmation of problems reported and assist Engineering staff in understanding problems and desired resolution
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Program Operations to ensure effective, efficient, and stable tests
  • Manage directly and indirectly other staff engaged in QA efforts
  • Continuously look for ways to improve testing coverage and testing efficiency
  • Engage with team members to achieve product delivery goals


In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • You are passionate about the power of Quality Assurance to increase efficiency and quality of software products
  • You have 5+ years of deep experience in the judicious use of automation to increase testing efficiency and impact
  • You have 5+ years of experience in multiple programming languages, preferably both back-end and front-end
  • You have 5-10 years of experience using automation tools for API and UI testing
  • You have management experience on a QA team that works across departments
  • You have experience with Cypress, Java, goLang, and Angular 1
  • You have previous experience or domain knowledge in education and have a passion for achieving educational equity in the United States
