Senior Software Architect

BellXcel - Remote - Full time

Position Overview:

BellXcel is looking for an experienced Senior Software Architect to join our growing Product Engineering team responsible for enhancing BellXcel’s customer-facing enterprise solutions. The Senior Software Architect is a key member of BellXcel’s engineering team, will report directly to the Director of Engineering and will work in close partnership with our Product Management, Engineering, and Implementation groups to create measurable value for the customer in areas including technical design, UX, quality & reliability, delivery, performance, or scalability.

Success in this role requires a high level of expertise in BellXcel’s tech stack, and strong background in software design for SaaS solutions with security and scalability in mind, and a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration. The Senior Software Architect also maintains a healthy balance between a strong curiosity of new technologies matched with a pragmatic appreciation for implementing the right fit for the need.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as subject matter expert in BellXcel’s overall system architecture.
  • Work with project ownership in solution design, work breakdown, sizing and backlog prioritization activities.
  • Actively participate in agile ceremonies as a key contributor to the Scrum process.
  • Help set software quality and technical standards, guide team members in their application, and assist in review of deliverables from internal and contractors to ensure their adherence.
  • Suggest, assess and assist with research and piloting of new technologies for fit within the BellXcel portfolio.
  • Assist product teams with inclusion of technical requirements in road mapping of future product enhancements.
  • Suggest ways to improve existing process for quality and efficiency.

Required Skills and Technical Experience:

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in technical leadership role for one or more SaaS based products, preferably within the EdTech space.
  • Expert experience designing and building modern cloud first technologies, with particular experience in Azure services.
  • Expert knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) design patterns with a focus on making software components reusable and interoperable via mini and micro service interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity with the following technologies:
  • Vue (version 2 or above), React or Angular
  • ASP.Net / C#
  • Azure SQL Server / MS SQL Server or related relational DBMS
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure Application Service
  • Comfortable working collaboratively in a face paced environment with stakeholders in solutioning and estimating technical initiatives and providing input to product roadmap.

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
  • Able to anticipate issues to help the team avoid or resolve them proactively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals including those at the executive level.
  • Extreme attention to detail with strong analytical, debugging, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Preferred experience with eCommerce systems - POS and Subscription services (experience with Stripe a plus).
  • Preferred experience with Learning Management Systems.

Education

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
