The Senior Sales Manager, EdSurge, is responsible for building partnerships, understanding partner needs, and driving revenue through selling EdSurge’s advertising and custom content offerings. In coordination with colleagues in the EdSurge Studio, the Senior Sales Manager will bring in opportunities for the continued success of collaborative projects with industry, nonprofit, and foundation partners. Critical to this role will be understanding and communicating the value proposition of EdSurge’s offerings, including the value of association with the EdSurge brand. As part of a small and highly capable team, this role reports to the Director of Development of EdSurge and plays a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing success of EdSurge.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build strategic partnerships and deliver results via closed deals with partners yielding ~$1M+ in annual revenue.
- Understand partner strategy, communication plans, marketing, and advertising needs. Connect partner needs to available EdSurge inventory and, when possible, to other ISTE/ASCD colleagues for a deeper partnership.
- Build and nourish pipeline for advertising and custom content leads
- Represent EdSurge internally and externally with cross-functional partnerships, colleagues, peer organizations, and industry stakeholders.
- Collaborate on the design of the EdSurge Jobs Board partner experience and pricing. Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities.
WHAT MATTERS TO US:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors, ideally in Education Technology, Business, Nonprofit Management, or other related disciplines
- 3-5 years of work experience across education technology, business partnerships, sales, and development. Bonus points for having worked on funding education journalism or research.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Extensive business development experience, especially sales of high-value intellectual work
- Proficient with Google Suite, process software (e.g., Asana), remote work team software
- Familiarity with Salesforce
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong ability to summarize and present data in both written and visual form
- Excellent oral & interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups and interact effectively with co-workers, partner agencies, funders, and other external stakeholders
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner while performing the duties of the position
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with good judgment and manage competing priorities
- Ability to be a self-starter and look for efficiencies or insights in your work as well as when working with others.
