The Senior Project Manager, EdSurge, guides and oversees all production in EdSurge Studio, the custom content practice which collaborates on sponsored (paid) work with industry partners, nonprofits, and foundations. In this role, the Senior Project Manager gains a deep understanding of a partner’s objectives after a deal has been signed, translates that into a roadmap for content production, and ensures that all the pieces of the puzzle come together to ensure consistency in meeting the incredibly high bar that EdSurge Studio has set across the industry. The sponsored, custom articles and webinars the Senior Project Manager produces must be consistent with EdSurge’s style and voice, as demonstrated by the EdSurge Journalism team. As part of a small and highly capable team, this role reports to the Director of Development of EdSurge and plays a crucial role in ensuring the ongoing success of EdSurge.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build a depth of understanding of the EdSurge voice and style and translate that into meeting partner objectives as they aim to celebrate their achievements and offerings
  • Manage projects, sometimes large and complex, which create value for partners while serving EdSurge’s core audience. Projects include custom webinars, Q&A-style interview articles, thought leadership articles, infographics, sponsored Twitter feeds, newsletter production, and more.
  • Manage multiple contractors who will interview, write, edit, facilitate, design, and more. Assign projects, ensure quality and consistency, and work in constant collaboration with external partners and contractors.
  • Represent EdSurge internally and externally with cross-functional colleagues, peer organizations, and industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the Journalism team in producing and delivering all custom content as part of the broader EdSurge content calendar.

WHAT MATTERS TO US:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors or Masters, ideally in Educational Media, Journalism, Writing, or other related disciplines
  • 3-5 years of work experience across journalism or other media content production. Bonus points for having worked on educational technology content.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Extensive business development experience, especially sales of high-value intellectual work
  • Proficient with Google Suite, process software (e.g., Asana), remote work team software
  • Experience in content production, written, webinars, or design.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups and interact effectively with co-workers, partner agencies, funders, and other external stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with good judgment and the need to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to be a self-starter and look for efficiencies or insights in your work as well as when working with others.
