On a 12-month contact the job will average 20-25 hours per week, but the amount of time will vary from week to week. Hours may be flexible but there is an expectation that the person will be available during regular work hours for meetings and correspondence.

Under the direction of California Library Association (CLA) and the Project Manager, the Senior Project Coordinator will work to support the technology and training for statewide library staff through the California Libraries Learn (CALL) program. CALL is supported by Library Services and Technology Act grant funds and provides continuing education/professional development for public library staff members; CALL opportunities are also open to school, government, academic, and special library staff members, but the primary audience is public libraries. The Senior Project Coordinator will assist in maintenance, update, and revision of content development and delivery platforms in support of CALL learning events. The position may require management of real-time events as well as working with asynchronous educational opportunities. The Senior Project Coordinator will also assist with content development, as well as with branding and marketing in alignment with existing standards.

IN ADDITION, the Senior Project Coordinator may be asked to complete other tasks associated with the statewide staff training grant, which may include:

  • Working with consultants and subcontractors on logistics and support necessary to complete work
  • Contributing content to, and maintaining, the CALL WordPress site (www.callacademy.org), and helping to address site design questions and updates
  • Oversight, maintenance, content addition (including accessibility standards), instructional design, and reporting for the CALL self-paced learning platform, Niche Academy
  • Contributing to the production of project reports, statistics and grant applications
  • Drafting and/or reviewing materials needed for project reporting
  • Implementing evaluation processes under direction of State Library staff and project manager (survey management, working with evaluation consultants as needed)
  • Incorporating marketing/public relations materials
  • Helping to implement, record, and participate in project idea and content generation, as well as reflection, de-briefing, and lessons learned sessions
  • Participating in Advisory Group and Task Force meetings as needed
  • Using tools such as Slack and Trello provided for project management and communication
  • Cross-training with other CALL staff responsibilities

Familiarity and/or experience with the following is desirable but not required…

  • Instructional design
  • Elearning development concepts
  • Virtual event platforms
  • Microlearning concepts

This position can be done remotely/virtually, from a home office or a virtual location with reliable Internet.The project coordinator will participate in an average of two to three virtual weekly meetings via Zoom and communicate via phone and/or email on a regular basis with the project manager and State Library liaison.

The project coordinator will be expected to provide their own laptop/computer and internet connection. It is expected that the contract worker will be checking email daily during the work week to respond to questions and provide overall support.

The project coordinator must meet all compliance requirements for AB5 in order to be hired as an Independent Contractor by the California Library Association. The person hired will need tosubmit a W9 indicating either a sole proprietorship or an LLC and the EIN for their business – CLA cannot accept social security numbers on the W-9.
