Senior Product Marketing Manager

Are you someone who both understands educational solutions and has experience marketing to high school and district level educators? If so, HMH is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Manager to lead go-to-market efforts for Advanced Placement® and electives digital first solutions.

The main responsibilities of the Senior Product Marketing Manager for AP and Electives are to create and execute marketing plans that speak to customers’ needs, tell the HMH story, and ultimately meet annual revenue goals. To bring customer-focused campaigns to life, you will collaborate with an external publishing partner, sales, product development, channel marketing, creative and brand, and other customer facing support teams within the HMH organization. You will use insights from both the market and these partners to bring campaigns to market ensuring the customer voice is included in all messaging.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in K-12 educational marketing and possesses a skillset that includes the use of digital marketing tactics that drive new sales, expansion, and renewals. The candidate will exude the daily energy and optimism needed to communicate product value internally and to the customer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute go-to-market plans and ongoing marketing campaigns for high school Advanced Placement and electives solutions that reflect an understanding of how districts evaluate these solutions, including customer purchasing behavior and criteria.
  • Use data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to gauge effectiveness of campaigns, learn, and adjust.
  • Represent products as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) when collaborating with or training cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and lead the support and submission for state adoptions.
  • Create relationships with sales to ensure they are enabled to position, speak to and support direct sales of these solutions. Provide accurate and timely support for sales teams in order to drive revenue.
  • Analyze competitors’ programs to deliver winning sales strategies to the sales team.
  • Work to connect marketing strategies to cross-discipline initiatives, implementing cohesive and consistent messaging that enhances the HMH connected message.

  • Possesses deep understanding of the needs of students, teachers, and administrators, and can translate this understanding into customer-centric marketing strategies and deliverables.
  • Self-starter: Driven to exceed goals, anticipate marketing needs, and take ownership of understanding shifts in the marketplace.
  • Independent thinker with leadership skills grounded in diplomatic communication and solid collaboration skills; able to lead or support as needed.
  • Creative, a problem solver who is flexible and solutions-oriented; can juggle multiple projects and pivot quickly based on internal or external stakeholder needs.
  • Able to balance the big picture and attention to detail; excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Salesforce, Eloqua, and social media platforms experience a plus.

Education & Experience


  • BS/BA in related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of marketing experience or related experience in the education market.
  • Experience creating and successfully executing go-to-market plans including sales rep training and readiness.
  • Experience developing innovative marketing campaigns through multiple channels that drive demand.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Experience marketing high school, SAAS-based solutions strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to collaborate with colleagues via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings.
  • Might be in a stationary position for a considerable time (sitting and/or standing) for 4+ hours.


  • Current position is remote. As schools reopen, travel is expected approximately 10 - 20% of time to home offices and/or to support sales effort.
