Position Overview

STAR Autism Support is looking for a Senior Product Manager to collaborate across the organization to develop and manage product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle. The Senior Product Manager will regularly convert product vision and market strategy into tangible outcomes and will be responsible for driving implementation project management by developing and managing product roadmaps and release plans, as well as supporting various departments to ensure product feature design meets criteria. The Senior Product Manager will work closely with the CEO to ensure that the product delivery outcomes align with the strategic goals of the company and the company mission.

This role is new to STAR Autism Support, and therefore, we are looking for someone who can bring their expertise in product and project management to our organization, influence cross-functionally without formal reporting authority, and most importantly, share in our passion for supporting the learning and curricula for students with autism.

Current STAR Autism Support product suite includes a variety SaaS curricula tools. STAR Autism Support maintains three distinct platforms, with two new platforms in development. Existing platform’s maintenance includes both ongoing feature upgrades and delivery of rotating content.

The Position: What you’ll do

50% Product Management

  • Ensure product discovery and delivery outcomes align with business priorities and meet both internal and external goals for profitability, mission alignment, and user satisfaction
  • Drive continuous process improvement leading to successful design, build, and launch activities by the teams involved in each product
  • Manage products and services throughout the product life cycle from solution innovation, defining product vision and goals, release and end-of-life planning
  • Assess education and technology trends, and current and emerging competitors in order to inform product platform direction; utilize and gather market and industry research and analysis to inform a long-range platform roadmap
  • Understand, prioritize and advocate for data and analytics needs using inputs from customers, market data, and internal business teams
  • Define and analyze key metrics to inform decision-making and measure success
  • Drive hard technical, business and design challenges to resolution, finding common ground with various partners to identify and design solutions that benefit students and teachers
  • Lead at the intersection of marketing, brand, data, customer insights, and technology to define strategy, target outcomes, and product priorities
  • Communicate with non-technical stakeholders to gather product feedback, document bugs and feature requests, and translate into technical requirements

50% Project Management

  • Work closely with software development, content development, creative, and other stakeholder teams to identify project scope and product capabilities to meet business and end user requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate a clear vision, strategy, and roadmap for project implementation to various stakeholders across the company
  • Provide frequent and regular updates on project progress and milestones
  • Strategically and continuously prioritize tasks as identified by a variety of stakeholders
  • Manage vendor/contractor relationships to expedite efficient product development and operational support
  • Coordinate with the sales and marketing team to ensure market readiness, determine customer implementation timelines, and craft appropriate communications for customers and the public
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog across multiple areas and track dependencies across the team
  • Seek opportunities to improve team practices and processes
  • Document product requirements from strategy review into technical specifications
  • Drive biweekly team sprints to ensure timeline expectations are communicated clearly and met to guarantee feature delivery
  • Balance competing demands for project scope, time, cost, risk, and quality; manage several projects concurrently with a sense for organizational priority
  • Communicate effectively by developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Collaborate with colleagues of all levels, bring cross-functional teams together, and foster a supportive team dynamic

Skills and Talents: What you will bring to the role

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in product management, product development, project management, business analysis or related discipline, preferred experience building and launching SaaS products
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, technical, or business discipline required, master’s degree preferred
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and contribute at both a tactical and strategic level
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, make timely decisions and work effectively across multiple groups
  • Expertise with delivering and managing creative and technical development work
  • Strong knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management processes such as requirements definition, business plan development, new product introduction, etc.
  • An adaptive learner who has the willingness to take in new information, perspectives, and data to incorporate into the execution of projects
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and dedicated to executing, articulating, and advocating for DEI in daily work procedure
  • Excellent analytical abilities to break down and solve complex problems
  • Experience with modeling and data analysis to aid business decisions
  • Outstanding written/verbal communication and presentation abilities, able to communicate complex ideas to a nontechnical audience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with technical and process requirements related to privacy, security, and accessibility
  • Domain knowledge and demonstrated understanding of the educational marketplace, specifically EdTech
  • Experience working with Agile Development process and Human Centered Design practices
  • Proficient with Agile, Pragmatic, or 280 group product management frameworks
  • Experience in education technology or experience with government entities and/or non-profits
  • Skilled at developing and delivering pitch decks, product demos and other external-facing materials
  • Experience using the following tools or methodologies: In-Design, Adobe Creative Suite, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, Trello), AWS and Alibabacloud, API Platform, Drupal, Symfony, REACT
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Familiarity with Government Contracting and Fiscal Documentation
  • Experience with translation and product localization
  • Experience with grant writing or RFP writing
