Senior Product Designer

Schoology - Austin, TX - Full time


What You’ll do:

  • Design and specify user interfaces and information architecture using participatory and iterative design techniques including, but not limited to, prototyping and usability testing.
  • Run collaborative sessions to facilitate problem framing, alignment of strategic directions, and conceptual approach.
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to iterate on existing features or introduce new features and make them robust experiences for our customers.
  • Develop proficient content strategy to ensure users can find the information they are looking for, and test your designs with users, iterating when they don't work.
  • Own your own product area.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers to manage, curate, and expand our design system; focus on attaining expertise in one or more core area of design.
  • Mentor junior designers and help them grow their careers.

To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Broad knowledge of core user experience concepts including: interface design, interaction design, user flows, designing for devices and prototyping, user research tactics, information architecture, systems thinking, design thinking, behavioral economics, and content strategy.
  • Led design and research through a product lifecycle.
  • Taken a product from conception all the way through release.
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues and ensuring that outputs are meaningful and accessible
  • Ability to make rational design decisions supported by design theory, research data, business goals, and design principles.
  • Ability to understand customer needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables.
  • Experience providing and accepting feedback graciously and learning from everything you do.

  • You stress the details and understand how to work with developers and product owners.
  • You think in terms of design systems.
  • Attention to details and visual form.
  • Detail-oriented and highly developed organizational skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology, particularly as applied to responsive Web-based applications.
  • Experience in user research methodologies
