On average, U.S. students are with substitute teachers for 5% of the typical school year. That means our students have substitute teachers for more than six months of their K-12 school career. The problem? We're suffering from a national shortage of substitute teachers.Swing Education is focused on tackling the substitute teacher shortage. We make it easy for great schools and quality subs to find each other. We help schools access more subs and offload tedious work (recruiting, screening, payroll, etc.) and we help subs find jobs, gain experience and build their professional network.Swing is a revenue generating, Series B, YC company (through ImagineK12).

The Position

This is a perfect role for an entrepreneurial operations leader that wants to define and implement a strategy to scale one of the most critical business functions at a fast-growing startup. You will build a world-class onboarding funnel and engagement strategy for both our school partners and substitute teachers that drives volume, efficiency and quality. We’re looking for smart, empathetic, system-builders and problem solvers who are ready to build and innovate in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Operations team and define the vision and build the infrastructure to support school and sub on-boarding at scale.
  • Identify, implement and optimize systems aimed at driving loyalty amongst our school partners and substitute teachers.
  • Ensure school and sub engagement and success from the start through a high-touch, on-boarding experience
  • Take a data-driven approach to understanding the health of school and sub funnel; proactively identifying root causes of churn, and prioritizing opportunities for improvement and engagement
  • Lead targeted projects and experiments that address gaps in on-boarding and engagement, including developing problem statements, objective, scope and success metrics.
  • Work with prospective school partners and Sales team to scope requirements for on-boarding new school partners and drive execution across different teams.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree - we’re more interested in what you learned and how you’ve applied it to your life than what you studied.
  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced operational role
  • Analytical, process-driven and detail-oriented; ability to break down ambiguous problems, evaluate data and feedback, and creatively problem solve
  • Strong bias to action and scrappiness while independently project managing against milestones, timelines, and key metrics for multiple deployments and projects
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally to achieve goals, complete projects, and manage resources.
