Senior Instructional Designer, World Languages, Spanish

Carnegie Learning - Remote - Full time


We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified Senior Instructional Designer to create the next generation of Spanish products that will revolutionize the way Spanish is taught in schools and districts across the country.


  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Instructional Design, World Languages, to implement the instructional vision and execute the instructional design and content strategy of the Next Generation Spanish product, ensuring alignment to the Carnegie learning mission and vision, as well as ACTFLs philosophy and the World-Readiness Standards for Language Learning
  • Collaborates with the editorial, product management, professional learning, and sales enablement teams to help evolve the World Languages departments ability to innovate and execute in an environment of rapid expansion
  • Independently manages and executes multiple, concurrent instructional design activities while proactively ensuring optimal processes
  • Applies advanced knowledge of pedagogy, second language acquisition, ACTFL-involved philosophies and standards, backwards design, Design Thinking, and assessment to the design of accurate and innovative content
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead other instructional designers on the team, ensuring rigor and integrity of the content and on-time delivery of the finished product
  • Proactively and reliably identifies and resolves risks that would hinder on-time, accurate project delivery
  • Demonstrates deep understanding of how content functions within platform and technologies
  • Creates and authors content using available technology in the platform
  • Suggests and develops creative solutions to meet general content needs and specific adoption needs
  • Follows set standards for DE&I to ensure content free of cultural and political biases, stereotypes, and insensitivity toward any group
  • Analyzes and applies best practices in instructional design and learning technologies
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of Carnegie Learning product content and is and is able to communicate it to multiple audiences, in both live and online environments
  • Works cross-functionally in the creation of marketing collateral


  • Native command of written and spoken Spanish
  • BA, BS in Spanish or other related fields
  • Masters in Second Language Acquisition, Spanish/French/German or Linguistics, or other related fields
  • 5-7 years of experience in education and instructional and/or curriculum design
  • Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition, Spanish/French/German or Linguistics, or other related fields a plus
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in the 6-12 market
  • Knowledge of the 6-12 educational publishing market
  • Expert written and verbal communication with internal and external audiences, including students, teachers, districts, and vendors
  • Relentless pursuit of instructional and assessment content integrity and creativity
  • Desire and ability to foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, collaboration, and flexibility
