Senior Instructional Designer

POSITION SUMMARY

Join an amazing and dynamic team at ASQ to leverage your instructional design know-how, develop engaging learning experiences, mentor your colleagues, expand your tool set with new ed tech, and support and advise on departmental objectives. For immediate start, remote within USA or in-office/hybrid in Milwaukee WI.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs live (face-to-face and virtual) instruction and self-paced e-learning courses based on an expert knowledge of Instructional Design (ID) models and modern adult learning theory; translate learning objectives and technical, soft skill, and other training content into engaging Learning Experiences (LX), as directed by the LX Manager.
  • Collaborates as needed with faculty and subject matter experts in the effective design and development of course materials to ensure they meet ASQ’s objectives and quality standards.
  • Provides regular and as hoc support, as well as practical mentoring, to the content development team as it relates to developing their ID skills and LX thinking.
  • Guides the development team towards continuously innovative content, fostering a team spirit where experience is valued, and new ideas can strive, contributes to and recommends continuous improvement efforts of the Workgroup’s content (course, curricula, deliverables or modalities) and processes to the LX Manager, implement improvements as appropriate.
  • As needed, supports product (or product update) launches by drafting course descriptions, identifying key aspects and/or unique sell points.
  • Stays informed on innovative Instructional Design and Learning Experience trends; implement findings iteratively according to the LX Manager’s strategy.
  • Guides the development team towards continuously innovative content, fostering a team spirit where experience is valued, and new ideas can strive; contributes to and recommends continuous improvement efforts of the Workgroup’s content (course, curricula, deliverables or modalities) and processes to the LX Manager; implement improvements as appropriate.
  • Balance commitment to quality with urgent and effective action with a reliable business acumen and understanding of Society-wide impact.

  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in Learning and Development, Instructional Design, or related degree; five years of experience in training program and curriculum development or equivalent combination.

Must have worked through and managed adult-oriented instructional design processes (ADDIE or similar) for live (face-to-face and virtual) instruction and self-paced e-learning and possess two years’ experience collaborating with internal and external SMEs.
