Senior Instructional Designer, English Language Arts

CenterPoint Education Solutions - Multiple Locations or Remote - Full time

CenterPoint is launching an exciting new project to develop a K-5 curriculum in English language arts (ELA) for a district client. CenterPoint is already working in the district—as part of a collaboration with multiple organizations—to develop a set of preK interim assessments and a preK-12 item bank in ELA and mathematics. The goal of the project is to support district-wide implementation of a new PK-12 aligned system of curriculum, assessments, and professional learning.

We are looking for a Senior Instructional Designer, ELA to join our Humanities Team and serve as the internal lead for this work, ensuring high quality design and development of the curriculum and assessments and providing expertise and leadership. In addition, the Senior Instructional Designer will CenterPoint Education Solutions serve as a content expert on additional projects in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and professional learning work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Content Expertise, Design, and Development

• Provide leadership, vision, and strategy for CenterPoint’s curriculum, assessment development,custom services, and professional learning projects

• Design, develop, and review curriculum materials, including lessons and units, and support district/school implementation of high-quality curriculum

• Design and develop assessment material, reviewing materials for quality, and ensuring tight alignment to the standards

• Design, develop, and deliver engaging professional learning sessions, webinars, and course material to build educator capacity in the areas of content, assessment literacy, and instructional leadership

• Facilitate educator and client engagement in CenterPoint’s design and development projects

• Serve as a subject matter expert for CenterPoint’s school and district partners Program Management

• Serve as project manager for one or more large client contracts, including monitoring project schedules, budget, and the quality of deliverables and coordinating the work amongst CenterPoint staff, content consultants, and partners

• Ensure all material and deliverables are high quality, aligned, and meet the needs of CenterPoint’s clients

• Oversee work of consultants to monitor quality of instructional material and assessment items District/Client Engagement

• Develop and maintain relationships with school and district leaders and CenterPoint partners

• Present findings of research, academic reviews, etc. to clients via conference calls and/or face-to-face meetings as needed

• Support sales and marketing team in developing effective communications for educators and other key stakeholders regarding CenterPoint’s products and services

REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

• Commitment to CenterPoint’s mission and organizational values

• 8-10 years of relevant experience, including teaching English language arts or reading in a K-12 setting and teaching/coaching others in the teaching of reading for grades PreK-5 CenterPoint Education Solutions

• Prior demonstrated experience coordinating and managing a complex project with external partners and proven ability to successfully manage multiple (often conflicting) priorities and people in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment to achieve results

• Bachelor’s degree in English or reading, master’s degree preferred

• Extensive and deep understanding of the Common Core State Standards and other college- and career-ready standards and in the design of assessments aligned to these standards

• Knowledge of instructional pedagogy for ELL, bilingual education, and/or provision of special education services preferred

• Work experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Writing curriculum and creating curricular resources.

- Developing assessments and/or assessment programs (experience with Evidence Centered Design preferred)

- Designing and delivering professional learning services

 - Writing or reviewing alignment between standards and assessment items for both large scale assessment, formative tools, and curriculum-embedded assessments 

-Using an array of educational technology programs to support development of quality educational products.

• Ability to execute strategic programs and direction around CenterPoint’s product and service offerings

• Problem solver and strategic thinker with a team-player approach to work

• Ability to interact with the most senior levels of an organization and work collaboratively across the organization

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
