Position Overview
We at Illuminate Education are looking for a seasoned Software Engineer to join our growing team. We have one of the best SaaS solutions for the K-12 education field and are looking to make it better with your help. If you are self-motivated with a passion for development, then we want you to help achieve our mission of promoting student and student educator success. This role is for a full-stack developer with a strong emphasis on the front end of the application.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy enterprise software solutions by studying information needs and working with product managers, UX designers, and end users.
- Improve and modernize existing legacy software using current best practices.
- As an engineering leader, mentor engineering colleagues and provide escalation help when necessary.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize development and service issues for Engineer Managers.
- Work both independently and in a team environment, and be able to produce quality code that is maintainable to meet goals and deadlines.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- 5+ years of experience with Javascript and frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, JQuery), CSS, HTML, SCSS, Typescript, and NPM.
- Experience with Javascript testing frameworks (Jest).
- Experience with Webpack.
- Experience working with enterprise-level SaaS applications.
- Experience using agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub as a version control tool.
- Experience consuming web APIs.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- PHP and/or Golang experience.
- Test driven development.
- Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, and other cloud-oriented technology.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with PHP Frameworks (Zend, Symfony, Laravel, etc) or other MVC frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science.
- Understanding of microservice architecture, SOLID principles, software design patterns, cloud design patterns, and patterns of enterprise architecture.
