Your Roles as Senior Director, Site & AmeriCorps Operations

The Senior Director will serve as a senior leader at College Possible Minnesota and will directly oversee the site's operations and administration, build and enhance the organizational culture, and serve as a key partner in strengthening internal and external relationships. The Director will work closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to align site priorities with the org-wide strategic direction, drive and implement training for staff and AmeriCorps members, and represent the organization in the community.

  • Work with Executive Director and Senior Directors to provide leadership for College Possible Minnesota: Provide broad site leadership with an emphasis on cultivating and enhancing a strong organizational culture centered on D, E & I for about 30 staff members and 70 AmeriCorps service members. Facilitate internal and external meetings and events. Along with the Executive Director and Senior Directors, serve as a College Possible representative with external audiences, including community partners, media relations, speaking engagements, site visits and conferences with key stakeholders. Sheppard the design and construction of the annual strategic plan, budget, and special projects.
  • AmeriCorps and Site Operations for College Possible Minnesota: Responsible for the AmeriCorps participant experience, satisfaction, and working closely with College Possible's national office on all AmeriCorps grant compliance functions. Provide critical relationship management with Serve MN by hosting monitoring visits, overseeing file audits, attending Serve MN program meetings, and acting broadly as our main point of contact with Serve MN. Oversee HR and operations functions, including site-level hiring, information technology, facilities management, and inventory and purchasing. Support the development of standard operating procedures in all key areas.
  • Training, Development, and Support for College Possible Minnesota: Provide leadership for service corps member training and development with an emphasis on cultivating and enhancing a strong organizational culture. Work with the Program team to plan and execute our annual Welcome Weeks (3-week onboarding) for service corps members to maximize engagement and morale.
  • Develop and Oversee External Partnerships and Events: Manage College Possible alumni councils for both service corps members and program alumni and provide leadership for the team that manages all student-facing events and oversees community engagement and events. Represent College Possible in external speaking engagements, public forums, and other community events and gatherings in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • Advocacy, policy, and government relations for College Possible Minnesota: Work with the Executive Director and lobbyists to formulate a strategy for government relations. Assist the Executive Director in meeting with lobbyists and monitor legislative process and priorities to ensure that College Possible is well informed and positioned regarding higher education issues and funding opportunities; attend meetings with elected officials to introduce College Possible and make or strengthen our case for support. In the absence of the Executive Director, may be called upon to testify at public hearings as needed to represent College Possible and answer questions from elected officials.
  • Supervision: Recruitment Manager and Administrative Associate.

What You Bring

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.

Related Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in non-profit management, operations, strategy, and/or project
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Passion for and demonstrated commitment to the College Possible mission and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Previous experience planning and facilitating recruitment efforts, staff trainings, and meetings for large teams.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps or other government grant management preferred.
  • Experience with advocacy and government relations preferred.

Computer/Software Skills:

  • Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite preferred.
  • Egrants experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when needed.
