Products are delivered through unique platforms, including 1) our online platform that offers self-paced learning experiences grounded in interactive, real world problem solving, and 2) HBX Live, a one-of-a-kind virtual classroom that allows participants worldwide to interact in real-time with one another and a faculty member much as they would in a traditional HBS case classroom.

Reporting to the Director, Course Production, the Senior Course Production Manager (SCPM) will be responsible for leading a matrixed team of content developers, technologists, creative developers, product management and participant support services to create world-class online courses for Harvard Business School through HBX, the school’s digital education initiative. The position is responsible for delivering new courses, per our established standards, on time and on budget.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Leads the work of cross-functional, matrixed team(s) to develop the program content, including content developers, multimedia producers, user experience specialists, product management, and program services. Provides expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues across project.

•Guides HBS faculty (and as required other Harvard faculty) through the engagement and on-boarding process; determines deliverables and facilitates project-specific faculty approvals to meet project goals.

•Maps out project ambitions and resources. Illustrate options and trade-offs for multiple stakeholders.

•Partners with Product Management to ensure products developed are in alignment with product strategy; reconciles discrepancies between product development and product strategy as outlined in the product brief.

•Reviews course development plans and ongoing content drafts and provides feedback and direction to project team on their relationship to program goals, use of HBX platform capabilities, and implications for ongoing delivery and maintenance.

•Ensures adherence to course production best practices for pedagogical standards and permissions management.

•Synthesizes complex and diverse information in the identification and resolution of project problems including content, process, and stakeholder management. Escalate issues, as needed, to reduce risk to the project.

•Develops and manages project timelines; provides regular status updates of various forms to numerous stakeholders throughout HBX, HBS, and (as required) external entities.

•Develops relationships with faculty, academic support staff and others involved in the intellectual capital creation. Gains a working knowledge of the teaching agenda.

•Manages the execution of the Alpha course launch and leads matrixed team through completion of first one to three open enrollment waves of a given program.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience

Additional Qualifications

Experience providing project services in a higher education, professional services setting or publishing industry preferred; 

PMP or similar certification helpful

Proficiency in project management, estimating, and scheduling, can bring teams from project initiation to launch

Excellent communication skills - can "take charge of the conference room" and effectively lead project in all forms of communication - project steering meetings, project chartering and kickoffs, stand ups, design sessions, brain storms, problem solving sessions and retrospectives.

Demonstrates the following interpersonal attributes: Adaptable, flexible; uses grace & tact under pressure; unflappable when confronting challenges; resilient; positive outlook and "can-do" attitude; respectful & approachable style.

Experienced in implementing program status and performance reporting and project dashboards.
