We are seeking a Senior Content Strategist, Curriculum to join our team. This position is temporarily remote due to COVID-19. When our offices reopen, this position will be based out of North Mankato, MN or Edina, MN.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Content Strategist, Curriculum is a part of the team which sets the content strategy for Capstone’s products. This position, rooted in curriculum strategy and classroom teaching experience, will build content strategies from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas for products and content based on industry experience and contact with customers and prospects. This position must possess a unique blend of business, creative and technical savvy; a big-picture vision; and the drive to make that vision a reality. This role must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market. This role is a mix of both strategic and tactical work and will lead strategic work efforts to set content direction while curating program lists, aligning standards, and working across functions to get work done.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide ongoing content maps for both existing and new print and digital products based on knowledge of the products, the market, and the content needs expressed by customers.
  • Proactively create new, strategic content packages from existing content including product lifecycle planning.
  • Support the Content Strategy Manager in inventory management and out of print process.
  • Create and maintain core product packages, including product lifecycle analysis, item replacement, pricing, and formats.
  • Specify content requirements for current and future classroom-focused products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers, watching and understanding curriculum standards and trends, following consumer trends, analyzing competitive product, liaising with Curriculum Product Manager, and tracking market needs and drivers.
  • Drive a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Execution, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, content strategies, and positioning.
  • Facilitate and manage relationships with third parties providing curriculum information.
  • Analyze potential partner relationships for content creation.
  • Curate an ongoing list of concepts to meet needs identified by content strategy, publisher, product management and sales; revise concepts in response to market research and review.
  • Maintain and grow general market expertise across all products and deep product and market expertise for assigned product lines.
  • Mentor and guide others in team for best practices in educational content strategy.
  • Manage and mentor Content Strategist, Curriculum.
  • Facilitate and lead focus groups or advisory boards to elicit feedback and information from customers and readers; maintain relationships with active educators.
  • Coordinate and speak in presentations both online and in person.
  • Recruit and hire consultants.
  • Some travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates would be knowledgeable in educational and children’s publishing/content and how content is used in elementary classrooms. 3+ years of recent elementary classroom teaching experience required. 5 or more years of content marketing/product management/curriculum design experience and/or elementary classroom teaching and leadership or teacher on special assignment is a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to travel from office locations to conferences and other events to represent the company and interact with customers and sales teams.
