Senior Business Development Manager Job Description

Who Are You?

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join our growing business development team. The Sr. Business Development Manager is to be responsible for developing new customer prospects within training and consulting firms.

You have a passion for education, an entrepreneurial mindset, and sales expertise. You are technologically savvy and can quickly ramp up to be able to demonstrate complex B2B software, and field various questions ranging from features, to use cases, and basic technology architecture. You have an executive presence, discernable by audio or video modalities, and are able to convey credibility and persuasion as you interact with a wide range of audiences, from technical staff and project managers to senior executives. You are intellectually curious and interested in a deep understanding of the unique situation, context, and needs of potential customers. You are creative in looking for ways to partner together with organizations to solve problems and develop new ideas. You enjoy the challenge of working in a small, nimble team, within a fast-changing startup environment.

What Will You Do?

  • Work with a small team focused on expanding NovoEd’s use in the External Training Provider (ETP) segment, focusing on targets that can provide both high potential direct revenue and strategic benefit to NovoEd through premium brand association, direct referrals, marketing relationships, and the like.
  • Drive revenues as part of the ETP team by working with training/consulting firm leads (including those that you self-generate) through the full sales cycle from discovery to close, and driving expansion within existing customers
  • Consultatively work with prospective customers to understand their needs, assess the fit with NovoEd’s solutions, articulate the appropriate value proposition
  • Demonstrate the NovoEd software platform, walking prospective customers through the main features and benefits of the solution, answering high-level questions regarding design, implementation, and the technology architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Development Rep function to assess strategic targets for outbound leads and fine-tune qualification criteria for in-bound leads
  • Coordinate with the Solutions Consulting team to bring in deeper product/technical experts as needed for high-stakes meetings and demonstrations.
  • Interact with other departments to learn more deeply about and provide insights on how NovoEd provides solutions to its customers
  • Contribute to the company’s culture, adding your voice, and deepening the bonds within us.

What Skills Are Needed For This Role?

  • 10+ years of experience in software sales
  • Established track record selling in the B2B software space
  • Experience working at or selling to training or consulting firms
  • Deep familiarity with training within organizations and the L&D (Learning & Development) function
  • Excellent persuasive and clear oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to conduct a detailed demo of learning software to new audiences, and answer general technical questions about the solution
  • Location is flexible
  • May require up to 10% travel
