Senior Accountant

SchoolMint - Multiple Locations - Full time

SchoolMint is seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The Senior Accountant will work on a team with diverse backgrounds, operating in a fast-paced, multi-location and team-oriented environment and reporting to the Controller.

The Senior Accountant will own day-to-day accounting operations and assist with the month end close process with a focus on sales contract review and associated revenue recognition. They will be a hands-on individual who enjoys digging into details, identifying areas of improvement, and takes the initiative to implement those improvements.



  • Analyze sales contracts to ensure proper revenue recognition under the most accounting guidance
  • Act as the main Accounting interface, working closely with Deal Desk and Sales and Operations
  • Review current revenue recognition processes/procedures and recommend/implement process improvements

GL Accounting

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries in accordance with professional standards
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities
  • Ensure financial data integrity by reconciling data between multiple data sources
  • Assist with annual audit
  • Assist with tax filing of all required tax returns and other statutory filings
  • Ensuring consistent accounting controls and processes are implemented

Other duties assigned

  • Maintain and develop appropriate accounting processes, including review of internal controls and best practices, through analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
  • Assist other corporate based accounting and finance functions, as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business/Finance required, CPA a plus
  • 4+ years of Accounting/Finance experience preferably in a fast-paced technology software environment
  • In-depth understanding of US GAAP
  • Experience in ASC 606 preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with Google Sheets
  • Experience in Sage Intacct ERP a plus
  • Experience with CRM a plus
  • Strong analytical and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attentive to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Quick learner with the ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to identify and help implement potential process improvements and controls
