Senior Account Executive-Business Development -Ed-Tech-Early Childhood

Housman Institute is a ground-breaking mission driven start-up company in the early education sector in search of a Business Development Lead to acquire, foster, and manage new client relationships and drive sales of our educator training and classroom experience programming.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Business Development Lead with a mandate to increase awareness and adoption of HI’s suite of programs and products nationwide, through an array of activities and channels. In this role as one of our first sales hires, you’ll have a chance to flex your entrepreneurial sales and marketing skills, make a significant impact on the company and your customers, and grow your career as we scale together.

In this role, you will:

  • Improve and execute on our customer awareness and acquisition strategy:
    • Collaborate with Marketing to plan and implement new outbound and inbound acquisition approaches that generate new leads
    • Engage and nurture our existing database of warm leads
    • Prospect to new high-potential customers at schools and school systems
    • Participate and present at in industry events, conferences, and other forums
  • Close new business
    • Through a consultative sales process, identify opportunities and propose solutions to match the needs of customers ranging from school systems to individual educators
    • Sell Housman Institute products both on their own and in bundles, consisting of a variety of options including subscriptions to our online curriculum library, classroom materials, training sessions, integrated school transformation programs, and more
  • Drive long-term sustainable growth
    • Build and execute engagement strategies with existing customers to ensure retention and identify opportunities for deeper partnerships and additional sales
    • Provide customer insight from the field to Marketing and Product Management to assist in the development of new or refined products and go-to-market approaches
    • Identify and pursue new areas of opportunity: promising customer segments, geographies, partnership opportunities, etc.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A passion for Housman Institute’s mission and the early childhood market
  • 5+ years of work experience, including experience with multi-stakeholder sales in the education, public sector or similar market
  • Demonstrated success in driving growth and hitting aggressive goals
  • Familiarity with (or ability to rapidly learn) Hubspot CRM
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to new information and market conditions
  • The desire and ability to collaborate closely across functional areas and contribute outside of your role
  • Excitement to work within a fast-moving and rapidly-evolving startup environment, and to scale your role with the business as we grow
