Who we want:

Writers and teachers to join our team as part-time content writers. You’ll be applying for either a position on our social studies or science team. We don’t expect writers to be experts in both content areas.

Characteristics we’re looking for:

  • Creativity in explaining complex concepts
  • Captivating writing that would pull in reluctant readers
  • Teaching experience (not required, but preferred)
  • Formal study of History or Science in Undergrad/Grad school (not required, but preferred)
  • Ability to work virtually and independently
  • Clear communication regarding deadlines and progress

What will you do:

Explain them with clarity in simple language. How would you describe how vaccines work to a 5th grader? How can we talk about the Fall of Rome in language that a 6th grader will connect with?

We know the vocabulary and standards that we need written, but we want writers who can explain these concepts in creative and delightful ways.

When you’ll work:

The position is virtual and the bulk of work will be done over the summer. We’re looking for some writers who will start immediately and others only looking for part time positions over the summer. The position may continue over next school year if you’re a rockstar.

This sounds awesome. How do I apply?

  1. Email us at careers@rocketlit.com with a resume and cover letter
  2. Write 2 paragraphs introducing students to one of the following vocabulary words through an analogy that a 6th grader would connect with:
    • Kinetic energy
    • Scientific Theory
    • Law of Superposition
    • Immigrant
    • Federal government
    • Secession
