ORGANIZATION

Say Yes Guilford (SYG), founded in 2015, is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Guilford County, North Carolina, with the mission of providing access to services, support, and scholarships designed to prepare local students for success in college, career, and life. In July 2018 SYG became the first locally owned and operated chapter of the national nonprofit Say Yes to Education.

The organization is guided by its theory of change, which can be summarized as the following:

  • The organization will coordinate a suite of targeted student support services that are customized and responsive to the specific needs of each student across Guilford County Schools;

  • Scaling of student supports will enable sufficient access across the district and result in improved student outcomes at the district-wide level;
  • Improved individual, school-wide, and district-wide student outcomes – coupled with access to scholarships - will enable students to get to and through rigorous career pathways and post-secondary educational opportunities.
