Position Summary

Under the leadership of the Assistant Director of Bantam Network Operations and Strategic Planning, the Residential Learning and Wellness Outreach Coordinator (RLC) lives on-campus and oversees a residential community within the Trinity College Housing system.

This position works to foster an inclusive living and learning community that contributes to students’ academic achievement and personal growth. While the position will function as described below, some aspects are subject to change due to evolving departmental needs.

Housing Responsibilities

Administrative Processes

  • Oversee the day-to-day functions of assigned residential communities, including collaboration with residential operations and facilities as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and serve as a member of the crisis response team.
  • Assist implementing and assessing the residential curriculum and programming model, as part of the residential learning experience.
  • Manage programming budget for residential student staff.
  • Oversee development and planning of pro-grams by residential student staff.
  • Collaborate with members of the campus community to provide students with holistic programs and support services.

Training and Supervision

  • Supervise, facilitate meetings, and conduct evaluations of residential student staff in as-signed residential communities.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and assessment related to the recruitment, selection, and training of residential student staff.

Community Standards

  • Facilitate the student conduct process consistent with college policies.
  • Determine behavioral and educational sanctions due to policy violations and pro-vide guidance, mediation, problem solving, and refer students to campus re-sources as needed.

Student Support Services

  • Work collaboratively with the Deans of Stu-dent and Community life, along with faculty to pro-vide support and guidance for students.
  • Meet with students to dis-cuss their needs and connect them to campus re-sources and support ser-vices.

Wellness Outreach Coordinator Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the Health and Wellness Educator and other campus partners to develop and promote campus-wide wellness pro-grams and activities. Topics include but are not limited to long-term risk factors of alcohol, marijuana and other substance use/abuse, sexual health, sexual assault and relation-ship violence, stress-related illnesses and their prevention, good nutrition, self-care, and emerging health topics.

Collaborate with the Health and Wellness Educator to track student hospital transports related alcohol and sub-stance/other drug use. Meet with transport-ed students to discuss their needs.

Other duties as assigned.

This is a 12 Month, Live on-campus position in The Bantam Network Residential Learning Community.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is expected to have broad and relevant experience in residential life, activities planning, student advising/mentoring, and student leadership development. A good understanding of liberal arts communities is preferred. Candidates should have a passion for mentorship and deliber-ate interaction with students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of 1-year of relevant professional experience and/or a strong background as an en-gaged student leader
  • Ability to adapt leadership style to the unique needs and interests of the student population
  • Experience maintaining professionalism with staff, faculty, and students
  • Flexibility in schedule to be able to work nights and weekends
  • A willingness and desire to collaborate with the Hartford community
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and strong time management skills with a good ability to multitask
  • Excellent attention to detail (e.g., management of a small budget) and evidence of good judg-ment and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across diverse communities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient with computers and software programs, (e.g., Office 365, Facebook, Instagram) to support departmental goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, College Stu-dent Personnel, or a related field
  • A minimum of 2-years of relevant experience or 2 or more years of undergraduate or graduate experience in residential life
  • Strong commitment to the liberal arts experiences along with evidence of an appreciation for working in a diverse community
  • Experience in leading a student organization and/or involvement in leadership programs
