Research Science Manager, Efficacy and Evaluation (Remote)

About the Role:

As a Research Science Manager, you will lead a team of researchers and analysts who support research across the company. We collaborate with others from Product Development, Curriculum, Design, Engineering, Customer Experience, Sales, and Marketing to conduct in-depth research on student learning, assessment, and usage behaviors. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Utilizing our extensive data warehouse, research tools, past studies, and current research projects.
  • Understanding our vision for shaping the direction of our analyses of efficacy, adaptivity to student needs, and predictions of student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with experts in education and curriculum development, engineering, and product development to help build and improve on our research on the effectiveness of DreamBox Learning.
  • Conduct analyses on math and literacy assessment, and their correlation with other internal metrics as well as external benchmark.
  • Managing a team of research scientists and analysts, serving as a senior mentor for more junior colleagues.
  • Contribute to internal code-reviews and peer-review of ongoing research
  • Communicate data and insights and make specific recommendations to diverse audiences including Senior Leadership, Customer Experience, Marketing, Sales, and external customers from partner school districts.

About You:

  • 5+ years of evaluation research experience
  • Experience managing a talented team of research scientists and research analysts required
  • Ability to design and carry out research studies showing the efficacy and effectiveness of math and literacy programs on student outcomes
  • Experience conducting psychometric evaluations and linking studies using existing data as well as prospectively collected experimental data
  • Experience implementing a range of other analyses using modern statistical, data mining and predictive analytics methods such as ANOVA/regression, generalized linear models, factor analysis, item-response models, decision trees/random forests, resampling/simulation, and Bayesian inference
  • Experienced user of R or Python for research or data science projects and writing complex data queries using SQL
  • Able to communicate data and insights to make specific product development recommendations based on the findings of a research study
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
