Research Manager

MIT SEII - Cambridge, Massachusetts or Remote - Full time

The School Effectiveness and Inequality Initiative (SEII) is recruiting a Research Manager based at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, with remote work temporarily required due to the COVID-19 crisis. SEII is a growing team of professionals devoted to answering major policy and societal questions related to education, the workforce, and inequality.

The Research Manager will work closely with one or more of SEII Directors Joshua Angrist, David Autor, and Parag Pathak, and collaborators across the country. This position also offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with other SEII research staff.

The Research Manager supports ongoing projects, including the “Evaluating College Support” project recently featured in The New York Times. The Research Manager is also responsible for managing the Research Fellow program (currently eight fellows) and streamlining research operations. The Manager will supervise projects, develop data management systems, and communicate with external research stakeholders.

The selected candidate will be a motivated and organized project manager, with demonstrated research experience in economics, education, public policy, or a related field. The Manager should be a clear communicator who can effectively represent the organization in person and in writing.

Research Managers receive a full-time, one-year appointment that is renewable annually (contingent on funding).
