The Quill Editorial Associate will work with teachers and students to develop new activities and materials under the guidance of Quill’s Curriculum Director, Hannah Monk. The editorial associate is a junior level position, and it does not require previous education experience. However, the position requires strong writing and grammar skills - the associate will be creating grammar materials and assigning feedback on student writing. This position requires knowledge of the syntax of language and technical grammar - you should be comfortable knowing your relative pronouns from your demonstrative pronouns.

Through meetings with educators at schools and libraries throughout New York City, you will observe how students are using Quill and generate ideas for how it can be improved. We work directly with teachers and educators to develop new, free materials, and as an associate you will help us manage the teacher network and add these materials to our database.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Creating new writing activities
  • Evaluating and providing feedback on student writing
  • Working with students and teachers in the New York City region to design and test Quill
  • Supporting teachers by answering questions and collecting feedback

We are located in the Financial District of NYC, and this is a full-time, six-month contract position, with an option to become a permanent full-time role at the end of the contract.

To apply please send a brief letter of introduction and resume to the Quill team at jobs (at) quill.org. Please also include 2-3 writing samples - ideally college essays, but other pieces of writing, such as articles or blog posts, are fine as well.
