Full Time Salary Rate: Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications

Term: This position will end on OCTOBER 14, 2019.

** This position may be made renewable pending additional funding and department need.

Appointment percent: 100%

Anticipated begin date: OCTOBER 15, 2017

Degree and area of specialization:

PhD in Education, Learning Sciences, Learning Games, Computer Science, or other related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

* Inquiry on game-based learning outcomes using data analytics and conventional research designs.

* the design of high-quality and interdisciplinary learning games.

* Data analytics research designs that integrate open ended machine learning and data mining approaches.

* Iterative user-based evaluation and research processes that inform the design of learning games and that produce valid and reliable information about the results of game play.

* Communication of initiatives across stakeholders from policymakers to educators.

* Collaboration with experts in the field and involvement with key associations and networks in educational games and data science.

* The development, publication and dissemination of research reports for grants, contracts, academic papers and projects that translate technical work to general audiences.

Principal duties:

* Designing and managing studies that measure the impact of games on learning.

* Designing and managing research projects that explore how learning analytics can inform game design and learning outcomes.

* Participating in game development activities.

* Organizing and implementing playtesting, formative evaluation, field data collection, and data analysis.

* Organizing and implementing project and personnel management strategies.

* Supervising teams of student and staff researchers.

* Organizing and engaging in publications and grant writing.

* Reporting results and findings to project PIs, and funding agencies.

* Representing the research at conferences and to interested parties/strategic partners.* Other duties as necessary.
