Terms of Employment:

12 months/230 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Management Job Group 4 on the SAISD Compensation Plan on a Non-Chapter 21 contract. The entry level annual salary is at a rate of $54,227.10 with additional consideration for directly related experience.

Primary Purpose:

SAISD seeks a full-time Project Manager for the Office of the Chief of Staff, who will lead, coordinate, and support projects and initiatives within and across SAISD departments. The scope of these projects will range in focus and duration. The Project Manager will increase the district’s capacity to deliver a high-quality education for SAISD students that ultimately prepares them to be successful in college and careers. This position is a new, innovative role within SAISD that is being incubated in the Office of the Chief of Staff. As such, the Project Manager will lead and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university required;
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant.

  • Previous project management experience;
  • Two (2) years of school-based experience in an underserved school setting or similar, preferred;
  • Understanding of the operations and dynamics of school districts, preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Project Management

  • Direct and manage assigned projects, often working collaboratively with other SAISD personnel and community stakeholders
  • Plan and execute project work plans with multiple contributing stakeholders; track project milestones and deliverables
  • Collect feedback on projects and processes; analyze results to improve future projects and processes
  • Build systems and structures to communicate to stakeholders, internally and externally, about project status
  • Prepare high-quality supporting materials for self and others to share at meetings and presentations
  • Support writing, research and technical needs
  • Develop expertise about SAISD initiatives, offices, and systems
  • Analyze school and district data to assist with strategic decision-making; identify additional project needs
  • Serve as a leader in best practice sharing for staff/teams within SAISD

Leadership Support

  • Serve as critical thought partner to district leaders to ensure the success of their department and district
  • Develop communication systems and structures
  • Understand the budget and fiscal implications of key decisions

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As assigned.


Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.

Mental and Physical Demands:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and prolonged or irregular hours; Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; Occasional: Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance; Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically; Occasional districtwide and statewide travel.
