Project Associate, Annenberg Learner

SUMMARY

Annenberg Learner is the education division of the Annenberg Foundation. To advance excellent teaching in American schools, it funds and distributes free multimedia resources on Learner.org for the professional development of K-12 teachers. Annenberg Learner also partners with impactful organizations to provide other means to achieve this.

The Project Associate provides strategic administrative support for Learner activities, and will often act as a liaison between other Annenberg Learner staff and the Foundation Marketing, Accounting, and IT teams. In addition, this position works with the Program Director to help plan, implement and manage Annenberg Learner’s content and services. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs a variety of research efforts to support program priorities and projects. This may include: researching mailing lists for marketing materials; researching thought leaders in the education and digital fields; researching and monitoring education landscape for topics and trends.
  • Contributes content, editing, and general support to projects.
  • Provides strategic administrative support for Learner initiatives, which include scheduling and attending meetings, participating on subcommittees, preparing written correspondence/documents, etc.
  • Tracks, monitors, and supports in cultivating strategic partners.
  • Manages external vendors, consultants and contributors. Coordinates consultant/vendor setup process with Accounting & Finance, and tracks related activities. Ensures that contracts are up to date. Reviews invoices and submits for approval.
  • Creates, edits and coordinates publishing of blog, newsletter, updates and more with Marketing & Communications.
  • Provides audience insights on Learner users and newsletter subscribers.
  • Monitors Learner inbox and responds to general inquiries. Responds to other information and material requests, by phone, mail, email, and more.
  • Maintains photo and electronic library and monitors use of photos by designers and contractors.
  • Works with IT team to track and resolve website and other technical issues.
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of educational principles and technology preferred.
  • Familiarity with print and web design principles.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and analytics software.
  • Knowledge of WordPress.
  • Knowledge of Campaign Monitor.
  • Knowledge of basic design tool software like InDesign and Publisher.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to balance priorities in a multitasking environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong team orientation and ability to work interdependently.
  • Knowledge of, or desire to learn, basic web coding tools.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Education, or related field.
  • Five years of communications and/or education experience, preferably in education or non-profit sector.
  • Equivalent blend of education and work experience is acceptable.
  • Experience with social network tools and basic design tool software preferred.
