Enrollment Consultant and Program Manager Role

We’re looking for a teammate who’s excited to partner with school districts to revamp their enrollment and admissions processes. Today, most school districts assign students to “neighborhood schools” based on their zip code. But this inequitable process disempowers families and results in schools that mirror the segregation and socioeconomic status of our neighborhoods. Together, we’ll work with districts to provide a more equitable approach.

Every district is at a different point on the journey, and the path must be tailored to the unique needs of each region. We don’t sell one-size-fits-all software - we team with district leaders to customize solutions for their specific needs. As our Enrollment Consultant, you’ll be the Program and Project Manager, collaborating with both the Avela Team and the district administration to develop the best solution for their families and studies.

You will be one of our first teammates and so will be involved in many areas of the business, including product management, operations, sales, marketing, customer service - you name it, you’ll help with it. This role is a good fit for a customer centric entrepreneur who loves ambiguity and wants to solve problems in education.

  • Project Management - You’ll lead our projects with customers and own the deliverables, timelines, communication, and execution of our commitments.
  • Thought Leadership - As a subject matter expert, you’ll drive our thought leadership in the enrollment space, which includes writing blog entries, posting on social media, speaking at conferences, presenting webinars, and more.
  • Sales/Marketing - You’ll join sales calls as the SME and lend your credibility and expertise to the sales process. Similarly, you’ll support marketing with the creation of collateral and thought leadership pieces.
  • Customer Success - You’ll be the frontlines for our customers, supporting them with technical and programmatic issues.
  • Operations and More - As a growing startup, we need help across the board, from HR to finance to operations. Everyone pitches in to “take out the trash,” and nothing is “not in your job description.”
  • Advise Product Teams - Our product and engineering team will need your expertise as they design and build our product suite .

Role Qualifications:

  • Expertise in district enrollment processes and tools with deep insights on best practices
  • 6+ years of experience working in schools, districts, CMOs, or other education organizations
  • Project or program management experience
  • Excellent communicator, including written and oral
  • Capable of producing compelling slide presentations and reports

Team Qualifications:

  • Customer-centric mindset
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and drive
  • Extraordinary comfort with ambiguity
  • Enjoyment wearing many hats
  • Passion for education, equity, or social impact
  • Legal ability to work in the US, based in the USA.
  • Startup experience is preferred/helpful, but not required
  • Among the best at what you do
  • Growth mindset and desire to constantly improve your skills

  • Competitive salary.
  • Significant equity stake as a very early employee.
  • Flexible time off policy with no defined limits, plus all major holidays and encouraged vacations.
  • Full health benefits. (We cover platinum level medical at 100%, and platinum dental and vision at 80%.)
  • We will be setting up 401(k) and other retirement programs in the near future.
  • Flexible work policies.
  • Your choice of top-of-the-line technology.
  • Passionate, people-first company culture.

  • Flexible, remote-friendly culture..
  • Remote until at least March 2021 and until Coronavirus is resolved.
  • Thereafter, we’ll open our headquarters office in San Francisco. Team leaders will be empowered to manage their team as they prefer and can decide how much remote work to support.
