Program Manager, HBX Technology

HBX / Harvard Business School - Boston, Massachusetts - Full time

HBX is looking for a highly motivated Program Manager who will be responsible for providing management and oversight for software and hardware development programs and projects. The Program Manager will use program and project management tools and techniques to move HBX deliverables from intake through product launch. This position requires the Program Manager to be accountable for ensuring that programs and projects are delivered according to committed scope, budget, and schedule. 

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and integrate multiple related projects across HBX systems, working across the organization to implement technical solutions to support the business.

• Develop roadmaps and influence project priorities

• Identify and estimate resources, develop program and project plans, set program and project schedules and track progress of deliverables. Log and manage project issues that may arise.

 •Make recommendations for determining and coordinating the sharing of technical resources withinthe organization

• Report on status to appropriate stakeholders.

• Adhere to the established change management and exception management processes.

• Oversee vendor partners and managing software and hardware development projects across geographically dispersed teams.

• Organize and participate in Agile and Kanban events including daily check-in meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• 7+ years program and project management experience in a software development environment.

Additional Qualifications:

• Record of accomplishment in managing programs and projects through the entire life cycle.

• A strong work ethic as well as an ability to dig in and do what it takes to deliver a release on time.

• A team player and leader with extensive group negotiation skills.

• An ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while effectively prioritizing work.

• Strong meeting management and negotiating skills.

• Experience in reporting program and project status and metrics.

• Good understanding of both Agile and waterfall SDLC practices with the ability to apply them pragmatically.

• Experience in moving from a start-up to a more mature project management framework.

• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Scrum, and Kanban preferred.

• PMI or Agile certifications preferred.

NOTE: Candidates with less than 7 years experience may be considered for hire at grade 57.
