The mission of Harvard Business School (HBS) is to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.

HBX, the digital education initiative of Harvard Business School, is looking for a Production Manager for HBX Live. The HBX Live classroom is a virtual learning studio, located at WGBH, that allows 60 real-time participants to engage in case-based discussions from all across the globe. The position will provide technical oversight of HBX Live events, managing a team of contractors that execute HBX Live sessions and its customers programs and events. The person will also work closely with the Program Services Manager, A/V Systems Engineer, Technical Support Specialists, and other HBX colleagues to deliver these classes and live events in the HBX Live studio. 

Note: This is a two-year term position and is benefits eligible.

Responsibilities:

- Oversees the day‐to‐day operation and delivery of in-studio services for HBX Live, a virtual classroom used by the HBS community including faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

- Plays oversight role for in-studio productions, ensuring the production is delivered per the specifications of the program and faculty.

- Serves as “manager on duty” during sessions to coordinate resources across functional teams to provide white glove service within the context of a live production.

- Sources, staffs, and manages contractors (production crew) and tracks costs for each event.

- Develops and maintains vendor relationships to ensure HBX Live production scalability. 

- Working with Sr. A/V Systems Engineer, verifies full operation of all classroom technology and operations.

- Working with Program Services Manager, ensures that faculty and presenters are versed on using the classroom technology and are ready to handle unique situations prior to every event. 

- Manages studio equipment rentals, assists with quarterly budget process, and processes contractor and / or vendor invoices as needed.

- Manages day to day relationship between WGBH and HBX and upholds contract provisions.

- Manages the archive and distribution processes for all HBX Live footage.

- Manages and runs tours of the facility as-needed.

- Manages and runs faculty trainings of the studio space as needed

Basic Qualifications:

- 6 years of related media experience

- Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs.)

Additional Qualifications:

- Experience with event coordination / production and/or TV production workflows

- Ability to work with minimal direction

- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong customer focus

- Ability to juggle multiple projects, and priorities

- Proven people and project management skills

- Experience with Audio / Visual hardware, video conferencing software / Windows / Mac desktop technologies a plus

Additional Notes:

As HBX programs have a global audience, we offer classes at times that best serve a breadth of time zones. Accordingly, this position requires a flexible work schedule. Candidates can expect 1-2 days per week when their hours may shift and/or may need to work on an occasional day on the weekend.

HBX Live classes are hosted at WGBH (1 Guest Street, Boston MA) – travel to and from main office (175 N. Harvard Street, Boston MA) is required
