In 2007, the Advisory Board Company launched a new division to serve leaders in institutions of higher learning, the Education Advisory Board (EAB). Through its membership programs, EAB serves Chief Academic Officers, Chief Business Officers, Student Affairs, IT and Advancement Executives, and Community College Presidents at institutions in the United States, Canada and the U.K. Our research focuses on the university’s most pressing quality and productivity issues, performing rigorous root cause analysis and conducting hundreds of interviews with thought leaders to identify effective best practices that are shared with the membership through a series of national roundtable meetings, on-site workshops, webinars and publications.

The Role in Brief: 

We seek a Product Side Support to join the Education Advisory Board Sales & New Business Development team to support our Student Success Collaborative initiative. Individuals in the role of Product Side Support are responsible for driving strategy and marketing efforts, directly participating in sales and new business development pursuits and informing membership innovation and future offerings at leading universities and colleges across the country.

This position is based in our Washington, DC office or remote. Level commensurate with experience. 

Specific Responsibilities:

Team with a sales executive to conduct senior-level presentations and product demonstrations for prospective members (clients); presenting sales argument in a compelling, engaging and credible fashion

- Help translate current member outcomes into marketable materials and case studies and present to prospective members

- Identify current membership positioning and educate marketers on current best practices to acquire new business through both proactive cross-sell opportunity identification and support of pure prospect sales 

- Partner with the leadership team, conduct strategic planning; collect and analyze competitor and market information to enhance existing product and student success technology portfolio

- Help build a vibrant business with strong new sales conversion rates, high member satisfaction and QA scores, and high renewal rates through both visit and non-visit activities

- Responsible for gathering direct market intel from conversations with prospective members and sharing that information with Competitive Intelligence, Commercial and Product Management teams.

- Responsible for translating current member outcomes into marketable materials, case studies and demonstrations to present to prospective members

Basic Qualifications: 

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University

- Must possess a minimum of five year’s post undergrad experience in at least three of the following: 

  • Higher education industry experience and expertise 
  • Presentation experience  
  • Commercial experience 
  • Consulting experience 
  • Teaching experience 
  • Edtech experience 

- Proven presentation and facilitation skills in front of an executive level audience

- Willingness to travel a minimum of 70% of the time

- Valid Driver’s License

Ideal Qualifications: 

- Ability to conduct executive level presentations and facilitate group discussions

- Ability to demonstrate and communicate the ROI of the offering, drawing on subject matter expertise and work experience that will enhance credibility with prospective members

- Proven experience managing client relationships

- Business development and/or consultative sales experience in a professional services environment

- Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities

- Experience with solution focused problem solving 

- Ability to work independently or within a team environment

- Familiarity with cloud based platforms, technology, and/or basic data science and predictive modeling
