About the Position

The Learner Variability Project (LVP) is hiring a seasoned product director/learning engineer/instructional designer to drive our work supporting product teams in integrating research-based learner variability supports for the full diversity of learners into their products.

The LVP is a large initiative that works with the world’s top learning scientists to distill the latest research on how learners vary and what research-based design strategies support those variabilities.


  • Evolve LVP Vision for supporting EdTech product teams integrating the LVP framework into their product design and roadmaps.
  • Develop a strategy for scaling the use of LVP frameworks and tools in as many products as possible.
  • Catalyze relationships and design high-leverage partnerships with edtech product developers and executives.•Present at companies and conferences to grow awareness of learner variability as a concept and promote adoption of LVP tools.
  • Design and implement professional development for product teams, in-person and online.
  • Provide deep expertise in instructional design based on learning science, especially around learner variability and supporting learner diversity.
  • Provide feedback on the LVP tool design from a product developer perspective.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Promise certifications team on developing and promoting product certifications aligned to the LVP framework.
  • Track and report data to understand the reach and impact of these partnerships on product design.
  • Create innovative ways to share information about successful implementations of LVP.
  • Qualifications

    Enter education, education, years of experience, technical skills, and other qualifications

  • 7+ years work experience, including in education, instructional design, and product design/management
  • Masters degree minimum, Ph.D. preferred
  • Ability to catalyze, design, and launch partnerships with tech product developers
  • Deep understanding of instructional design and learning science/learner variability across ELL, executive function, learning differences, trauma...etc
  • Ability to partner with executives and lead teams of product managers and developers/designers and design professional development experiences
  • Ability to guide and work with senior product teams to instill learning engineering principles into their processes
  • Ability to present publicly at conferences and inspire action•Ability to travel 25% of the time

    The full-time salary range for the Product Partnerships Director position is between $110,00- $140,000 with an exact salary depending on experience.
