Product Manager, World Languages

Carnegie Learning - Remote - Full time

WHAT WE SEEK

We are looking for a strong Product Manager to envision and drive updates and enhancements for World Languages existing products, and support the creation of new products that revolutionize the way the world languages are taught in schools and districts across the country. The Product Manager, World Languages reports to the Director of Product Management and collaborates with the Editorial and Instructional Design teams to bring the research, content, and user experience to life.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

  • Identify the products, product attributes, and customer needs/requirements that will advance the learning experience and learning outcomes for middle and high school teachers and students.
  • Identify the products, features, and requirements for internal needs such as content authoring tools.
  • Strategize, build, maintain, and communicate product visions and product roadmaps.
  • Lead and coordinate research efforts to understand the user needs and how they can be met, including both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with design, project management, and engineering to draft user stories, balancing needs from design with technical feasibility, understanding the dependencies and coordinating the timeframe for implementing and launching new features and enhancements.
  • Lead the creation of wireframes, based on the user stories, as well as the creation of the user journey, in conjunction with the designer/s.
  • Generate, prioritize and groom the backlog of user stories on a regular basis.
  • Lead the Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective, as needed, in conjunction with the Scrum Leader.
  • Escalate conflicts, clash of priorities and other issues swiftly and promptly, as needed.
  • Create and disseminate reports on the progress of the product/s as needed.
  • Keep apprised of the competitors products and changes to reposition product/s.
  • Work with Instructional Design and Editorial teams to help integrate best instructional design practices and innovative pedagogical approaches to the design of current and future products.
  • Lead with a growth mindset, recognizing and developing innovative concepts that keep us growing and keeping our teachers and students at the pulse of our work.

WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BACKPACK

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Education, Languages, or related field required
  • Proven experience in product management (5+ years)
  • Knowledge and experience with software product management and working in an Agile (or Scrum) environment
  • Certified Agile (or Scrum) Product Owner by a renowned agency a plus
  • Education industry experience is required; K12 teaching experience a plus
  • Expert communication skills with the ability to write and present to key stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French or German a plus
  • Proficiency with productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Content platforms (including Drive, Docs, and Sheets), and Adobe Acrobat, as well as project management software such as Asana, Jira or Smartsheets
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking, supporting your ability to make significant product decisions
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with sales, marketing, research, engineering, instructional design, and editorial colleagues
  • Working knowledge of language apps, language programs, and other education artifacts that use technology to enhance engagement and learning
  • A passion for education and a thirst for educational innovation, specifically in World Languages. Strong understanding of latest trends, policies and best practices in education and product management.
