Position Summary:

The Product Manager is responsible for managing products and projects to execute on the strategic plan and roadmap across a portfolio of Supplemental ELA products and services. As the individual product owner, the position informs, implements, and drives the vision and financial success throughout the lifecycle, while representing the voice of the customer, understanding market trends, demonstrating business acumen, and exemplifying mastery of technical and soft skills that enable stakeholders throughout the organization to collaborate successfully on the creation and management of market-winning products. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a hands-on approach and passion for positively impacting literacy instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead individual product(s) and programs for the Supplemental ELA products, which currently includes programs on the topics of Handwriting, Spelling, Vocabulary, Writing, and Grammar.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts to inform concepts and guidelines for solutions that align with standards and current research.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to balance quality with a level of effort and ROI to inform and prioritize product decisions.
  • Utilize research-based market needs to create compelling product experiences through work with customers and the cross-functional team while making smart modifications and tradeoffs.
  • Display strategic thinking while balancing the attention to detail necessary to deliver high-quality products and services.
  • Inform business cases that align with market requirements, are financially strong, and leverage internal capabilities.

Within your first month, you’ll:

  • Deepen your knowledge around Zaner-Bloser’s portfolio of products and begin to understand the roles, responsibilities, and current practices of the team.

Within your first year, you’ll:

  • Effectively manage the full product life-cycle for assigned products from approved business cases through sunsetting using data to inform decisions.
  • Act as the product expert internally and externally for products assigned including clear and consistent planning, communication, collaboration, presentation, and support.
  • Thrive with a balance of team and independent project work

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Education and Experience:

Bachelors’ Degree required

5-7 years of direct work experience in elementary educational publishing or products, with 3-5 years of product management experience.


  • Demonstrable understanding of the elementary ELA educational environment is ideal.
  • Experience with print and digital products is desirable.
  • 25% travel or less
