Product Manager, Professional Learning

Illustrative Mathematics - Remote - Full time

Position Summary

Illustrative Mathematics is looking for a Product Manager who will report to the VP, Professional Learning Products and Services and oversee professional learning product development from inception to implementation. The successful candidate moves easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail, and is a born collaborator who brings skills of teamwork, diplomacy, adaptability, problem-solving, and strategic thinking to their work every day.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of professional learning product initiatives including synchronous and asynchronous services and resources
  • Become an expert on IM product features and ensure coherence across the product portfolio
  • Ensure that products meet expectations for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery
  • Help develop product strategy and take ownership of product roadmaps
  • Work with stakeholders to define each stage of the product development life cycle so that teams always have a clear path forward
  • Lead the communication process internally and externally to ensure products are successfully launched, implemented, and supported
  • Help to improve current product development processes, and create new ones that best serve the organization
  • Maintain regular communications and relationships with IM Certified partners and other stakeholders, extrapolating partner and user feedback to prioritize and address specific issues within product development
  • Prioritize competing demands across multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs in order to develop and discuss potential solutions
  • Participate in organizational lead-to-cash improvement efforts

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in product management with a track record of success. Experience building consumer-facing, K–12 education products preferred.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps to define and lay out product strategy that helps guide the development, release, and expansion of products
  • Understands both product life cycles and user life cycles
  • A solid understanding of a product life cycle—from conception to delivery to improvements
  • Experience working in and/or serving K–12 school organizations
  • A track record of working collaboratively and effectively with technical and non-technical partner teams to oversee delivery of product solutions
  • Experience working alongside cross-functional teams, understanding business goals, end-user needs, and stakeholder requirements
  • Excellent organizational, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to seeking and listening to feedback that encourages growth, surfaces blindspots, and recognizes and disrupts patterns of inequity
  • Excellent self-management and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a highly collaborative team to meet departmental and organizational goals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Desire to learn and grow in an organization that is expanding its reach and impact
  • Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in the USA

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in technology, UX, user research, or professional learning
  • Understanding of the K–12 professional learning market
  • Experience with or a willingness to learn Asana and Salesforce
  • Experience coordinating and collaborating with learning product planners, marketing managers, and content developers
  • K–12 educational experience focused on shifting teachers’ instructional practice and/or shifting to standards-aligned curricula (either in a school-based role or in an organization delivering products or services to support these shifts)
  • Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Zoom, and Slack

Compensation & Benefits

In alignment with our commitment to equity in practice and policy, Illustrative Mathematics is committed to equity and transparency for our team and offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience and education. This position is exempt. The annual salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000.
