Job Description

SchoolMint is looking for a contract Product Manager to join its School Finder team. This is a nine month contract with the option for extension and/or full-time upon individual review and project success.

The School Finder team is making it easy for families to learn about their school options and for schools to engage with parents early in the enrollment cycle. Through a robust search platform, the Finder has been helping families in cities like Oakland, Denver, Camden, Boston, and Los Angeles find the best school for their children. The goal for this nine month project is to extend the Finder product offering with new features and enhancements in the categories of communications, events, analytics, and content management.

This is a small, fast-growing team that is re-inventing the way schools and families interact. You’ll work with product managers, designers, engineers, and implementation managers to build out new tools, test them, and ship them by—

  • Supporting the Senior Product Manager in defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap for your product areas
  • Owning day-to-day feature development, including writing detailed specification documents, creating user stories, wireframes, prototypes, and other assets to communicate your ideas clearly
  • Working with engineers to identify technical dependencies for features; grooming and scoping accordingly
  • Participating in and leading agile/scrum rituals, including standups, planning, and retros.
  • Performing competitive market analysis to understand growth opportunities for our product

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in product management
  • Working knowledge of product management concepts and practices
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple features and projects simultaneously
  • Startup initiative - the ability to self-manage, find creative ways to work through barriers, desire to learn and manage projects to completion with minimal supervision
  • Passion for user experience — a love for intuitive design and an obsession with getting the little details right, as well as a drive to continually improve the customer experience
  • Amazing communication skills
  • Experience working on a distributed team using Slack, email, Hangouts and other channels
  • Bonus: experience in education!
